How did he neglect the kids?

From the article it sounds like he neglected them by allowing them to live in the same home as some pot plants... Was the home filthy, did he not feed them or take care of them, or is just having the plants around constitute neglect?

Sure, bust him and send him to jail for growing pot... but if the only reason he's being charged with neglect is because of the plants then that charge seems rather bogus to me.

What a waste of state resources!
Legalize the home cultivation and use of marijuana.

Sounds like a major operation! Well worth the effort of the Sellerburg PO PO and the time to type it out in an article. Another big time CRIMINAL goes to jail. I'm sure Sellersburg is a much safer place to go now.

I can't believe this is considered news. A few pot plants aren't going to hurt anybody. And to assume neglect of dependents because of growing plants? That's ridiculous.(Guess what? I have a spider plant in the kitchen!)

More anonymous tips...this guy is lucky the cops didn't just break down his door and murder him, that seems to be how they handle things these days.

Without an illegal immigration bill will this be Indiana's future?

What a world. Plants are against the law and the cops are ignoring serious crimes, with victims, so they can invade peoples' apartments and bust them for victimless crimes.

Just another victimless "crime"--and further proof that every level of government has become too big, too invasive and has gone to pot...

Looks to Hippie that the taxpayers are tired of paying millions of dollars to arrest folks who aren't violent.

Yeah, if it's just a plant, then who cares. A good lawyer will be able to say that the guy thought that they were some type of flowering plant. He didn't know that it was POT!

POT around children, how will society survive????

Stupid Laws fop Stupid People. It's all about control, that's why I'm not a Christian...same thing

Enough Potheads! You're right, I'm sure this guy is an upstanding citizen and a great father. All little children should watch their daddy grow pot in the home and learn the tools of the trade. Then, when they grow up, they can show all their buddies how to committ criminal acts. Get a clue!

I am enraged that MY tax dollars were wasted on paying state cops to process this event. With all of the crack, meth, child-molesters, bank robberies, and murder that take place daily...they are going to waste time busting this guy for a couple of pot plants? Are you serious? I will be sending Mitch an email on this today.

Those kids were placed in far more danger by those cops dropping in unannounced than they ever were by living there with some friggin plants!

It's time to re-think these marijuana laws. If you could grow the HARMLESS weed here, there would be less of it getting smuggled through the borders...and it would take all of the high level dope dealers criminal incentive away. How much tax dollars would be produced if pot were sold legally and regulated like cigarettes or alcohol?

I don't smoke pot...but this waste of police time and budget is ridiculous!

I totally agree. pot needs to be legal. What a waste of tax payer money. they arrest this young man, ruin his life (felony charge= no job= no apartment) and his children life's. Meanwhile rapists murders child abusers are roaming our streets. Where is the sense in this??
