Small business creators: didn't do it themselves what about sleepless nights, acquiring money to keep the businesses going and keeping their people working. It is all on their shoulders. Why does there seem to be distain for people who made the right choices in life, worked hard? Why is dependence on the government "the good child?" It is good for people through hardwork to be able to help their children, other relatives and charities.

Some see private enterprise as a predatory target to be shot, others as a cow to be milked, but few are those who see it as a sturdy horse pulling the wagon.

I'm tired of people treating small businepeople like white nights of the economy; they built their businesses for ONE reason: to MAKE MONEY. They didn't set out to make American better one bagel at a time, or to provide meaningful employment to others, so let's stop making them out to be heroes.
My father was a small businessman, and yes, he worked hard, but he was working for himself, not some greater glory. Did he earn it all by himself? No, there was a great American business infrastructure already in place. He certainly couldn't have done what he did in India or China.

We don't have "disdain" for these people, but we're tired of being told that they must be given special treatment because they're "job creators". Fine, they create jobs, but the rest of us the PERFORM the jobs, so we're just as essential to the system. The muffin shop, the kid behind the counter, the customer buying a cup of coffee... they're all "job creators"; take any one of them out of the economyl and you HAVE no economy. Every time I buy a new shirt or go out to dinner, I'm helping to create a job.

There's a dozen other people out there willing to take your job for lots less money than you make. Don't give your boss a reason to make that happen.

Quality workers are never "completely expendable". Yes, there are replacements workers for virtually every employee, whether or not they're licensed. Most of the time, licensure only means that you passed a basic skills test and/or paid the State Department a licensing-fee...beyond that, licensure means nothing. I've been a business-owner my entire life, just like my father and his father before him. I've hired and fire hundreds of people, and I'm here to tell you that there is NOT an endless supply of quality workers from which to choose. QUALITY workers are always in demand, and are NEVER easily replaced; you would know that if you were an employer.

Businesspeople crack me up; they do everything that they can to pay their workers as little as possible without benefits, then they wring their hands in frustration that there are no more hard-workng, loyal employees! Well guess what...you can't buy loyalty for $10 an hour sans benefits!

You are right about quality employees, but few are nearly as good as they think they are, and I agree with the other guy-- almost all are totally expendable. The only licensed professionals are physicans and attorneys. The only other professionals, who have no licensure, are academics. "Professional" by definition, requires a terminal degree. You can't be a "professional hairdresser", "professional salesman", etc.

You can't be a "professional hairdresser", "professional salesman", etc. Once again, you are wrong. Merriam Webster defines "professional"(n) as: "a person who is professional; especially : a person who engages in a pursuit or activity professionally" You can be a "professional" anything, as long as it is a paid pursuit. By your definition, there are no professional athletes or professional movie directors. You sir, are an idiot.

Simply receiving a paycheck for something does not make one a "professional", no matter what lingo is attached to it. Those are vocations. There's a big difference, but you obviously don't understand that.
