I HAVE NO MOTIVE TO LIE. IT HAPPENED BELIEVE ME, I WILL CARRY THE MEMORIES FOR A LIFETIME. IT MAY NOT HAVE HAPPENED TO YOU, AND FOR THAT I AM GLAD. BUT IT DID HAPPEN TO OTHERS THAT LIVED THERE. THE SCHOOL COVERED-UP THAT FACT THAT IT DID. YOU WERE CHILDREN THAT NEEDED SOME HELP AT A TIME IN YOUR LIFE THAT WAS A CHALLEGE. MOST WERE HELPED, OTHERS WERE MOLESTED BY THIS CREEP.....I HOPE YOUR LIFE IS GOOD, AND THAT THE SCHOOL HELPED YOU. I KNOW IT IS NOT EASY TO SEE THE SCHOOL YOU ATTENDED BE THE OBJECT OF DICUSSION IN SUCH A NEGATIVE MANNER. i AM SORRY FOR THAT, BUT IT DID HAPPEN.

Your comment is not entirely true. I am almost 28 and was in that school when I was a teenager. I was not a trouble maker nor was I from ny city. I was placed there as a neglect case and it was pretty out of control but there is only so much the staff there can handle. Some of those teens are completely unruly but the way they look at things are that they are to old to be adopted and there own family had abandoned them so why should they care about causing trouble because to them they have nothing to loose. It is sad because the neighborhood as well as that nice mall has to suffer but nobody cares for the kids.... so why would they care

I would love to know when it was you worked there because I went to that school and firstly there were never any 11 year olds. I was 15 when I went there and the oldest person there was 18. So I think you may be lying a little bit.

Why would staff bother to complain about pay? Im pretty sure you know how much you will make before taking the job. And you also know just what the job entails. Stop complaining and get your money or quit.... simple as that

Well I was a lake grove student and yuh are all goin by Stereo types.. nobody knows wat goes on in the students life so who are yuh to judge anyone.. some people need to look at the bigger picture on why the children are in situations like this... most of these kids were abuse and neglected.. so at the end of the day we had to get it how we lived.. I'm from suffolk county not NYC.. not only that staff was sleepin wit the students as far as I'm concerned.. staff was sneak and most of the resources came from the staff so they did get paid enough.so before yuh people judge the one who are younger than yuh need to take a look at the disrespectful staff and the unfitt parents.. and if yuh feel some type of way, yuh can blow job on my. Middle finga..

Libby, you are absolutely correct. People do not look at the big picture. For most the very people that should have protected, did not. The children only learned from the "adults" around them. Most of the staff were wonderful and care. Some needed guidance themselves. I saw alot while I did my internship . Remember everyone these are CHILDREN. So many stories of success, of abuse, neglect. But then there was that kid who made it, and then it made you want to go back the next day.the kids were never my problem when I was there. Administration was . Well I am so happy to see the former students , are doing so well. I really loved working with the kids, I wish I could have done more.

You are correct the youngest child was 12. The oldest was 21, do not forget they had two houses for people with developmental disabilities . No, I do not lie. I was a young student doing an internship when I first started to work there. Then I became a couselor during the summer. I did not work there because I didnt care, I did. You guys had such much to overcome, and it seems you have. I will never forget working there , nor will I forget some of the things that happened to some of the children. In my career I moved into a different part of a human Services, because it hurt to much not to be able to help everyone of those kids. There faces will remain in my mind . Every child deserves to be loved, and to be able to trust.

i went to that this place and i have to agree with you guys. when i went to school there i felt unsafe, some of the staff use to beat us up for no reason. yes i have left the school but i left because i didnt want to be there any more and i didnt understand why my parents sent me to this place cuz i asnt a criminal at all, i just had moments at school where i was bullied and i fought back. not trying to sound funny but with me use to be a student there a long time ago, i feel like they should tear that place down. it was worst then jail it was hell. the place had bed bugs and it was very unsanitary to live there. i was always sick while living there and i felt like i had to be on guard at all times.

I too used to work there. One principal was fired for sexually abusing a student.(I use the word student loosely). One teacher I know was beaten up by a student. Another teacher has a student with AIDS spit in her coffee and she unknowingly drank it - this later became a court case. There are so many legal and criminal cases involving this "school" over the years. If only the community surrounding the mall and the school knew what goes on there, especially in the residential areas. This institution really is a place from another time and Long Island would benefit from re-zoning the land for another use, probably residential as it is surrounded by upper-middle class homes who shouldn't have to put up with this place. Yes, there are young adults there from the island, but most are placed there from the boroughs and are part of the criminal justice system, placed there in the hopes that this residential treatment will help them. I'd love to see statistics on what happens to them after they leave. Riker's Island, anyone?

sorry none of u know what you are talking about....i lived there for 3 years and graduated and went to college...stop assuming that because you see black children in a white neighborhood, they are the cause of ALL that towns problems...bullshit. Its not the place...its the situations of different individuals, the white kids there were the worst thats the funny part...so talk what you know please.
