Their method was to locate an unlocked car, grab the items that interested them and then return to their own car and store those items
If step 1 is "find an unlocked car" it really isn't much of a "method" and certainly doesn't warrant a detailed breakdown like that.
Seriously, how many variations on stealing could possibly follow "find an unlocked car"... Step 2 "teleport items to matter transference chamber in basement"?

Full extent of the law for these boys. People should be able to leave their cars and houses unlocked.
Mommy and Daddy must have taught them..."If it's not yours, don't touch it."
There should be no reason for locks to have ever been invented. Just don't screw with things that aren't yours

Unfortunatly, this is 2007 and leaving your car doors, your house doors or even your damn house windows unlocked is allowing any sicko whether 17 or 47 to come invite themselves to your own property. It's easy enough for criminals to access this stuff when locked much less leaving it open for them. There's absolutely no justification for what these diliquents did but to the victims...this is why objects called "locks" are made-to try and prevent people from entering.

do these kids have parents?? did their parents raise them right?? weren't these kids afraid of what their parents or neighbhors might think??
wiseass kids who deserve to be punished, and let their parents pay for the damages since their responsible for their children's actions. maybe if they raised them and disciplined them, they wouldn't have done this....
society is really falling apart, and these kind of kids are our future....good grief

Anybody else read this on FOXNEWS?? Obviously Newsday didn't....hope you don't live in Deer Park.

DEERPARK, N.Y.— A New York town was left without any police on duty after several off-duty officers went to a Sussex County Hooters and the one officer assigned to work didn't show up.

Deerpark Police Chief Bill Werner tells the Middletown Times Herald-Record that the outing in Franklin, N.J., last Thursday was intended to build camaraderie.

He says two officers were scheduled to work that night, but one couldn't because of a suspension. The town's supervisor says the other officer didn't feel comfortable working the night shift alone.

That left a single state trooper on call to cover the town.

Town council members say the lack of police coverage is troubling and they plan to investigate the matter.

The chief says the safety of the town wasn't compromised as a result of the Hooters trip.

Completely agree w/ you 100%.. if the parents were held responsible and liable as well for all the damages and law resources that were used I can tell you crime would decline - what a bunch of worthless punks - locks or no locks - it is not yours, it does not belong to you - you leave it alone, you have no right to it . what happened to teenagers getting jobs?????

Why are you posting this? It took place in Orange County Deerpark, not Suffolk County Deer Park and either way it has nothing to do with teens arrested in Miller Place.

Pay no attention to this twit. He's just some white bumpkin whose drunk buddy brought 2 carloads of friends over to the home of a Miller Place black family to rough them up & got splattered by a handgun. He thinks the black man should go to jail. I wouldn't be surprised if this flaccid fledgling was there too.
I'm doing rain dances to get on that jury.
Want to bet these three Darwin nominees are also his buddies.

Really? No disrespect to the deceased, but with friends like that you don't need enemies! No need to worry. I know they're klan wannabes who don't have the blueb---s to say what they say to someone's face in public.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Taurus

As Mars turns retro, emotional tension makes you feel as though you're walking on eggshells. The temperature has risen by several notches, making the situation at home more fraught. Better to clear the air quickly and cleanly than to sulk and brood in ways that simply prolong the agony.
