None of these three were innocent victims. Their path in life started a long time ago...obviously they did not get the discipline they needed and advice they deserved to make rational decisions. Sometimes my parents annoy me with all their rules, but I think it's for my own good.
When a child is allowed to smoke pot at age 13...nothing good can come of that. Parents in denial leads to out of control children.
In January, she was arrested at our high school for ripping off handbags and credit cards, while high on xanex and weed.
Her mother was running through the halls of our school screaming, trying to place the blame on someone else. It was her daughter who was caught with all the stolen credit cards.
My parents would've grounded me for a long time.
If your child is 16 years old and already has a record and allowed to hang out with known drug users with criminal records, somethings wrong.
Not surprised that Frank Bartolotta married a moron like this...he was a complete dirtbag back in the 70's when we were at Centereach High...guess it's true that the apple doesn't fall far...If Amy were my kid, she would've been grounded for life for stealing, I wouldn't have been blaming anyone else or the school!

I don't know how many people will read this after the fact. Amy's life was importnat to so many, and her death is still a very important factor to so many people. Ilvento will be getting his sentence just not as long as we all hoped for. 3-9 years is not long enough for what he had done. Amy's parents have had so many problems since this whole thing has happened. Her father loved her and will always love her as well as her mother, they miss her so very much and with Amy missing so many parts of their lives now with Frankie's recent birthday to just every holiday gone by without her. Her family is coping every day with why? Where is the justice in the Ilvento 3-9 years in jail whoopi, he gets to live and gets to have a life after his 9 years if he even gets the full term.
RIP beautiful angel

God said, "judge not lest ye be judged"
Anyone who offers anything but love and condolences to this family is pure evil.
Anyone who was ever a teenager knows that
kids this age cannot be watched at all times. They are going to make their own decisions and their own mistakes, like the rest of us. Unfortunately, some are not going to live to learn from them. All any parent can do is provide them with love, education, and guidance, and hope that at critical moments they will make good choices. But kids do not think like adults, science has proven that their brains are not fully developed until around age 25, and they often take, sometimes fatal, risks. Parents have worried about their teenage children for thousands of years, just look through the history books. This is nothing new. Stop blaming people for tragedies that they have no control over. Some people, unfortunately, need to experience these things first hand to understand the pain.

If it were only weed, things would be alot different, but it seems that your generation is going for the Heroin and Crack- both drugs are so addictive - you think you can try it - see what it's all about - and next thing your stuck - addicted and from there it seems no one cares any longer what happens. Your choices and common sense seem to be destroyed and we as parents are losing our kids. Some of the comments on this board are completely uncalled for and hurtful - but for the most part, just know we care. It's killing us watching whats going on and not having a handle on it. Not being able to do anything to help. You are right - we've all made some poor choices in our younger years and have learned from it - Don't take things that are said here as another excuse to prove "you can handle" the world - Talk to your parents - Older sister/brother - think before acting. Just know we are here!!!! Make the right choices - Don't drink/drug and drive. Call someone for a ride. STAY ALIVE PLEASE
Only an IDIOT would assume parents smoked weed or drank or did other drugs. Wake up sweetheart, not everyone is a BURN OUT LIKE YOU or your dirt bag loser friends.
