Vests? Great idea, but how about getting rid of the guns??(not trying hard enough) The laws on that are outdated and not typical of today's world.

What laws...the laws protect the criminal.......its a shame our police, ambulance workers , e.m.t's, etc., have to "suit up" to make an emergency call., which in fact takes time away from someone who REALLY needs help. Time for change.

I think it is a crime that the South Country School District makes the kids in North Bellport walk to the Frank P. Long School. My daughter was walking home and encountered a fight going on and someone pulled a gun and started shooting. She stared running and a stranger stopped and told her to get into the car and drove her home. That in itself could have been a problem, thankfully that person did the right thing. However the school district could have cared less. Maybe the answer is to fit all the walkers in the area with bullet proof vests also. Pretty sad that the school district is more concerned about money than the safety of the children who go to school there.
