Absolutely no blame should be placed on the Fire Dept. They are volunteers who put themselves at risk for their neighborhood. It is my understanding that emergency personell had to weave their way around stacks of cages to search for people.
Stacks of cages? Are you kidding me? I don't care how good the family's intentions are towards animals. Maintaining all those animals in a home that wasn't designed to be a zoo is blatently illegal at best and a serious violation of residential codes at least.
Now three firefighters are hurt because of this family's extremely poor judgement in maintaining an animal farm in a house designed for a family of four.
If we could go back to the old days when the townsfolk would put the village idiots in stocks so we could throw rotten vegetables at them, there'd be a line 2 blocks long at the local green grocer to load up on cabbage for these people (and people who refuse to punctuate or insist on blogging like they're texting).

You really need to shut your mouth about the fire department's response time. The department was there within minutes of the initial call, so don't even go down that road. Not that I think anyone on this post takes you seriously anyway, but I'm about fed up with your finger-pointing. You want to sit there and Monday-morning quarterback a fire suppression and rescue effort? Throw on a helmet and pick up a hose. Until then, a simple "Thank You" will suffice.

first of all why don't you learn how to spell, 2nd of all it is obvious that you know you are wrong and you just need someone to put the blame on for your own negligence. The fire dept was on seen in 2 mins of the call coming over and the trucks were there in 11 mins and it is all on record so get your facts straight!

Yes, please, learn how to spell and use grammar. When you use all those kiddie acronyms you come across as someone without credibility.

You're an idiot. It was NOT a 30-minute response time. The department was there within minutes of the call as both I and Lori had mentioned previously. Enough already with the BS you've been posting. Two firefighters and a police officer went to the hospital due to their efforts in saving your family's pets and relative, and you have the nerve to put the blame of your family's loss on the fire department? It's people like you that make our job a thankless one.-E

I'm a member at the Nesconset Fire Department. Maybe it was 30 minutes from when the fire started, but not from when we got the call. The Chief went right to the scene; he was there within minutes of the call coming in. The rest of us come from our homes and go to the fire house, and then leave the fire house and go to the scene. We get there as fast as we could; especially considering this fire happened during rush hour traffic. However, it was NOT 30 minutes from when the call came over. We pride ourselves on our dedication to our neighbors and to our town; I can assure you we made every effort to get there as fast as possible while still ensuring the safety of those on the road, and handled this call in the same professional manner we handle all emergency calls.

I'm sorry that your in-laws lost pets in this fire, but I can assure you that it was not the fire department that started the fire, nor placed the animals in jeopardy, but made every effort to save them. I'm sorry you are not satisfied with our efforts, but we were on scene within minutes and did everything we could.
