I'm sorry to see this gym go co-ed. It was very nice as a women's gym.

A courtesy to all the members would have been to let us know in advance, that would be the right thing to do in this type of situation.

The economy is already having real problems. To make matters worse this club closed without telling anyone of the situation. The honorable response would be to let people know what to expect and give them a chance to make a decision on their own without being forced into a situation.

How much more can we take with the economy tanking and everyone closing their doors.

I agree..while the economy is terrible right now,and businesses are closing...the right thing would have been to notify all the members rather than lock the doors and throw a sign up. That is just poor business practice!

What the owner says isn't true. I heard a few months ago that they were going to close and reopen as a coed gym. I was actually told by several people. I was actually in the gym when there was a meeting going on with several other men (in the middle of the Women's only gym) and I overheard them talking about it. They were still talking new memberships until the end, which was very dishonest since most women that join a "women's only" gym do it because they don't want to go to a coed gym. I went and joined Healthrax. Women's Fitness wouldn't let me out of my membership even thugh they knew they were closing, I left anyway because I knew they would be closing soon. The Better Business Bureau and Attorney General should get involved in this. Apparently the owner owns other Gold's Gym's and he's not a very honest businessman.

I was a 1 year prepaid member. My friend was an instructor their for a few weeks when they finally opened. Within that time her class was cancelled, she was notified by an e-mail. I started hearing that employees checks were not clearing. I began speaking to the assistant manager about getting something in writing, if the gym closed what my rights would be to get my membership reimbursed. This went on for a while, until she told me the owner wanted me to draw something up to this effect.

I feel so badly for the instructors that he railroaded and for us as members. I don't think he realizes a women's rath is worse than her scorn!!!!

Please everyone contact the proper channels. I don't believe he should be able to reopen the gym co-ed in the Town of Seekonk.

Did they even try to attract new members? I never saw them advertise. I only knew about it because I pass it everyday. I won't be rejoining the new coed gym because they can't be trusted.

I joined when it first "opened" even though it still didn't open until about 6 months later. I like the gym and was upset how they handled the closing. I did get some of my money back quickly...glad about that. My fried joined about one week before they did this...that was pretty messed up!

As long as the locker room is not co-ed, you should
be OK, if the locker room is coed, your going to have a huge amount of new members.
