Ok how many people in Sedan have had thier water bills go up and down in the last serveral months. Mine went from the usual forty or fifty dallors to one hundred and i thought ok i had a water leak. So fixed the leaks it went down then it jumped back up to one hundred twenty dallors. Ok whats wrong now is what i thougth. Well nothing on my part and then this months water bill came in at a huge 180.00 dallors. Ok somethings wrong. Come to fine out the man at the water department was just fired for embezzlement. He has been altering water bills and pocketing the difference, and the city want to keep this hush hush. I can barley make it week to week with out someone making me pay extra on utilities. I think the town need to look back over the bills and credit the people he ripped off. i heard he kept seperate records so if this is true they should have no problem finding out who he took extra money from. Its hard enough for us to make. Just thought some people might like to know what is going on in our town. I love this town thier are alot of good people in it, but this is wrong and need to be addressed not covered up.

I was thinking the same on my bills. I was confused. Is it the guy with the glasses and damaged hand? I am a full time student and cannot afford these high bills. I just got my bill and its went up 50 dollars in just a month when I have hardly been home. Thank you for bring it to my attention about this gentleman.

Our water bill is usually the minimum every month. But every couple of months it goes up. I think it is probably because they dont read the meters every month like they are supposed to. They just undercharge until they get around to seeing how much water you really used.

I actually asked "why did my bill double?" and was told "it's the new prices". I could nt believe that my bill was more in the winter than in the summer - I want my money.

And I want to know what they know! What exactly was he doing, how did he get away with it and what will they do to make it right?

Average of $40, now $80 in just one month...

My water bill has always been the minimum whether it was summer or winter. This month it went from $31 to over $138! I live alone, I haven't had a leak! In the winter I leave my water dripping when it's extremely cold but I have every winter. I went back through my records 2 years and the highest my bill ever got was $41. There is no explanation. I was also told that my next bill will back to normal, apparently this mysterious leak fixed itself. I was told by city hall to go to the next city council meeting April 5th at 7 p.m. I suggest if you have a concern you need to attend this meeting. I can't afford a $100 increase with no reasonable explanation, can you?

No i cannot so the only way we can get this problem resolved is to pay the bill and talk about it at some meeting?

Mine increased $50 I was out of state 1/2 the month. The city pays back or bankrupt from lawsuits.

How does the jail get involved in the water debate? If it was the 1890's I would say that 'oooh' would run a shovel in a stable.

Ok so usay increase is due to new pipes ect.. I'm not stupid and niether is anyone else whose posted on this. There is now way they are going to increase all our bill a120.00 to pay for new pipes. if that's the case we all would be cheaper to dig our own well or clean the ones out we do have and use then. At this rate who can afford to have a garden for food. If what u say is true they have just killed this little town. Cause who is actually going to be able to afford to pay 180.00 a month for a water and that's a winter bill for one month. So now ur going to tell me this summer is going to be higher?? So what did the pick and choose whose water bill would go up cause not every ones did.

It is no rumor there is more than one person from the city office involved in the embezzlement. KBI is involved & will get to the bottom of it.

so just on the light side there is jobs available there?..lol I could use a job in town.Considering since Im paying high bills to "pay" for someones else car payment or whatever they used our money for. Hopfully the KBI does get to the bottom of this fast it about time someone "known" in this town get into trouble for there own actions. Im not trying to slander so all u know and not jump on me.

As I understand it The KBI is investigating so they are the one's with the answers. Who knows maybe more than one person is involved ? It'll take time to unravel this .

With this water dept deal here's a good one I just got a letter in the mail today 4-1-2010 from Sedan water dept telling me that I owed them for 3000 gals of water for a House that I own that has been vacant since last summer. I didn't contract with the city for water service for this house . But they say It's " Their policy to charge the owner of the house " Well It's my policy to not pay for something I didn't use and didn't contract for. I guess the city feels like they can just Hold someone up when they want some money by making a policy. What kind of crap is that? I guess I could invent a policy that says If a tenant moves out owing rent I'll just charge the city for it . Sure that doesn't make sense But in the City's way of Alice in Wonderland thinking I guess it does. Besides all that with someone in the water dept defrauding people who really knows what's going on there ?

Don't want to keep beating a dead horse (see other posts), but where is the local media in all this? Why are they not investigating these allegations?

The "local media" doesn't have a damn clue. They ran a article about how the principal was getting unfairly treated by not having his contract renewed. And now he gets to stay another year. He is unfair and most of the teachers can't stand him.
