Full story: Berkshire Eagle

Allow the casino's. The jobs, although they do not pay well, could be a welcome benefit. Also, the construction companies and other sub contractors hired to build the casino's would get a needed boost.
Having a casino in Western Mass is not going to make non-gamblers become gamblers. If you are a gambler, you will find a way to do it whether it be poker games, scratch tickets, keno or making the trip to the CT casino's.

Daniel E "Bureaucrat" Bosley supports but opposes gambling. Dan Bosley supports the state lottery (a system of regressive taxation) but opposes Casinos (another regressive revenue system). I call this phenomenon "Bosley's H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y!"

Casinos are NOT recession-proof.
The Tropicana in Atlantic City is up for auction and the Tropicana in Las Vegas is probably not far behind.
The social costs of casino gambling and the vices which attend it wherever it goes are enormous AND recession-proof.
Casino gambling was a bad bargain a year ago and it's a bad bargain now.

If u build it.... they will come!! Let's face it, people always dig up money when they want to gamble.. A casino is NO worse than the Mass State Lottery.. Not only that, the money would pay for all the stupid other things like:(1) tolls (2) Big Dig (3) bridge repairs etc..
whatever

Casino gamblers have been taking their money south for far too long. The revenue and jobs they will create may not be recession proof but the building involved would sure go a long way to help those in the construction business. By the time they're built, the recession will be over and we'll be in an excellent position. We'll keep the Massachusetts players here and draw local players from other New England states.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Cancer

If you're busy with a last-minute Christmas shopping trip it will be easy to lose track of how much you're spending, particularly if you're in a panic and desperate to tick off every name on your list. However, you might be in for a nasty shock later on when you tot up the massive amount of money that you parted with. So try to keep a running total in your head or stick to a strict budget for each gift.
