Had connected to Randy through Acme roll form and was considering doing some business with him. Let me know if that is a smart thing to do.

The owner of Grey Creek Enterprises in Mikado has been arrested for defrauding victims from across the state and country out of tens of thousands of dollars.

The investigation into alleged crimes committed by 41 year-old Randolph Rolland Lowell began nearly two years ago. Through his company, Lowell responded to ads in equestrian trade magazines to design and build pole barns and other storage buildings. He required a substantial deposit before beginning projects and then cut off contact with unsuspecting victims.

Lowell is alleged to have collected numerous deposits from across Michigan and from as far away as Ohio, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

Michigan State Police from the Alpena-Lincoln Detachment arrested Lowell earlier this week, and are working on the investigation with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies from across the country.

Alcona County prosecutor Tom Weichel charged Lowell with two counts of larceny, contractor fraud and performing an occupation without a license. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Anyone who believes they have been defrauded by Randolph Lowell and/or Grey Creek Enterprises, can contact State Police in Lincoln at

The Board reviewed the hearing report and determined that, because of the severity of the offenses (particularly abandonment, failure to account for or remit funds, and fraud, deceit or dishonesty in occupation), the fine imposed should be higher then the fine recommended in the hearing report.
