Good start! Here's hoping a half century of waiting to be the champions is finally over... and if the World Series can be the dream re-match with the Yankees, so much the better.

But one game at a time. Gotta beat Atlanta tonight in Game Two... Best wishes to the Giants!

I would like to see the Giants beat the Yankees in the World Series. I am still waiting for payback for '62!

They can't score runs - hit into too many DP's and can't score runners from 3rd. No speed on the basepaths. Pitching will only get you so far.

I saw an old lady role down her window on 4th street, and call to a couple guys in Giants jerseys "Yeah, we did it!". Um, you really didn't do anything but watch TV and brush crumbs off your shirt. Fine to be an fan and observer, but it gets kind of pathetic when fans so closely associate with something that they really have nothing to do with. Go Giants!

You are making an assumption. She could be a season ticket holder, a ballpark usher, a mother of a player, wife of a former player. To you she is just an old lady. You are right though, she wasn't on the field with you playing the game.

With the exception of wife and mother perhaps affecting performance, how does a ticket holder or usher influence the game? Maybe if the Giants, er...I mean "we", win the World Series, the first people the players will thank will be the very talented ushers at Pac Bell Park. Never could have done it without 'em. OK, I'm sounding like a jerk, and that's not the point I'm trying to make. Go Giants!

Having been a Giants fan since I was a kid(I attended the first game(s) they played at old Seals Stadium), I have lived with them through the good and bad seasons...2002 comes to mind as well as 1962(both 7 game world series losses) and have high hopes for this team in the playoffs. They are young and enthusiastic and are fun to watch...hope they make it!!! GO GIANTS!!!

I think our definitions of a fan are different. Maybe they aren't strapping it on but it isn't unusual for someone who faithfully follows a team to use the word "we". And for someone who revels in the joy of "their" team is hardly "pathetic".

Errrr, unless you work for the government or are unemployed or self-employed, chances are you make a living off someone else's success.
