Some restaurant news on this quiet post-holiday-transition Monday: Walking along 16th SW in downtown White Center this morning, we noticed a sign up in the window of TT's Soul Kitchen , at the former site of Pho Lynna : It's scheduled to open tomorrow at 11 am, with live jazz for the first official lunch crowd from noon-2 pm.

We tried TT's about a week ago. I realize I'm not in NYC & the soul food places in Seattle are certainly not upscale or trendy but I at least expect some customer service. This was the worst customer service I've seen since being back in the US. As I sat waiting for my to-go order, I watched the lady in the front of the house talk to a patron that was clearly her friend. Showing her pictures from her phone as other customers came in, where never even acknowledged & walked back out. Seemed like no one cared at all. I'm taking the time to write this in hopes that my comments will be taken into consideration as I would love for TT's to succeed. I ordered the catfish sandwich & chicken/waffles: 1. Catfish sandwich was rather small. Looked almost like a slider. Still had skin which was rubbery due to under cooking. The lettuce was badly wilted. I would suggest putting lettuce to the side on to-go orders. French fries were soft & flimsy. Seemed the frying oil was not hot enough. 2. Chicken wings were soggy & under cooked. Oil needs to be higher. 3. To-go containers: Styrofoam. This is Seattle... Need to get Green! I cringe at styrofoam & haven't seen it since I was in Central America. 4. Cash only as the credit card was not working. 5. My personal pet peeve - check grammar & spelling before printing out menus & signs. Will try to give it another chance since they are pork free but bad food mixed with horrible customer service won't make people want to come back. Good luck TT's. Hope adjustments are made quickly!
