Arbury, who grew up in Seattle and is now a school principal in Enumclaw, Wash., added: "It's just that people are so funny here. They like to argue every small point."
Ha ha, it's the same thing here in Hawaii. It's a wonder anything ever gets done.

why are we talking about light rail when mufi said anything else besides steel on steel he will veto

this whole thing is a scam and a waste of time to talk about.

didn't anyone notice the Boat was worthless too when there was no parking for people to get to The Boat and only 200 people rode the boat daily.

Know that Mufia and his Con Artists sold Rail in Honolulu as "Light Rail"- and even keep repeating that- but the just released FTA funded Jacobs Report stated that what Mufia was actually building was HEAVY RAIL- which will be MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE per mile to build and maintain.

Keep in mind that in Hawaii- the CONSTRUCTION is all they are interested in- COMPLETION is totally different. Look at H-3 or the Airport-Nimitz freeway- all ran WAY OVER BUDGET and many YEARS LONGER to construct.

That's all because the Unions and Contractors make MUCH MORE by dragging it out and that means the TAX-PAYERS will be seeing ever rising "Transit Taxes and Fees" to pay for the continuous Change-Orders and Cost Overruns.

The Seattle solution to the Sound Transit (ST)elevated light rail (steel on steel) exceeding federal noise standards was to give people window a/c units to block the noise at the elevated portions. Waiting now for somebody to sue to cover the higher electric rate the a/c units bring.
Lot of controversy on ridership as ST refuses to say how many fare-paying customers are riding. Radio station had people count riders going south and then north on a mid day run. 10 passengers entered and exited on the 4 car train south run and 58 on the north run yet ST reports it as 134 trips for that same run.
They think ST may be counting bus passengers the parallel the train tracks. This fall, they will eliminate the bus routes that duplicate the train.
They have already experienced one fatality in the 1st week when a man jumped in front of a train. Power failures stranded people in the elevator briefly.

Light rail, heavy rail. What's the hang up with the definition? People seem to make this as some stickler but again, what's the issue if it's "heavy" or if it's "light? Different parts of the world have different definitions for the two.

I am so glad that you are such an expert regarding construction, contractors and unions. I would be totally lost without your expert testimony.

H-3 was delayed and had to be rerouted from Moanalua Valley to Halawa Valley because of the eco-terrorists. Just before the viaduct was to be finished, they had to stop construction because the pillars holding up the viaduct was found to be made of a different concrete than what was supposed to be used, so they had to check the concrete for the entire viaduct before they could resume construction.

Get your facts straight. H-3 was delayed many years because of lawsuits by environmental and Hawaiian special interest groups. I hope, as you drive on the beautiful H-3, and enjoy the convenience and the necessity of the freeway you realize those same naysayers are not heard from now.
