The religious right is ruthless and will stop at nothing short of demonizing and dehumanizing GLBT people.

You have a paranoid fixation on how evil the religious right is. Seek therapy.

I'm not speaking for equalityboy81 but after a few months on Topix I did seek therapy, and for the very reason you mention.

All three therapists said "You ARE paranoid, but then the evil religious right IS out to get you." And they all cited you as a prime example.

"Traditional Values Coalition" Hmm, where have I seen that name before?

Oh yeah, in the hate froup listing from the Southern Policy Law Center! http://www.splcenter.org/intel/map/type.jsp...

The whole predators in bathrooms fear mongering is based on fantasy and lies. In every single locality, city, county and state that has passed nondiscrimination laws (the first one in 1976!)that covered gender identity not one - NOT ONE - has had problems with trans men or trans women harassing or harming anyone in a public restroom.

This bankrupt tactic has been tried, unsuccessfully, in Colorado, Gainesville, Florida and, more recently, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The christianist right wing keeps trotting out this tired old lie simply because they have nothing else to base their opposition on, except the obvious fact that they just hate gay and trans people. They want to mask their bigotry with supposed facts but they don't have any in this case so they just make stuff up. Tony Perkins, "Porno Pete" LaBarbera, Liberty (talk about Orwellian rhetoric!) Counsel - STFU!

TVC? Oh, yeah, I know those people very well. I just don't know HOW I wound up on their e-mail list.

Some of that stuff they come up with would be down-right hilarious if it wasn't for the fact some people actually believe them.

Here's another group for you if you haven't ran across them already. CADC, Christian Anti-Defamation Commission. If there was any justice in this world, CADC would have to stand for Christian Anti-Defecation Commission. Cause God knows they are full of it.

Have you seen the CADC list of Top 10 Christian Bashings? Nothing on that list ever gets past a verbal altercation, but it’s a bashing by their definition. If you haven’t seen it check it out at www.christianadc.org The list for 2008 is still on their site. Of course they are working on a list for 2009. Another case where it would be hilarious except some people take them seriously.

Hes not exactly wrong. You yourself says your religion doesn't have a problem with transsexualism. However we are often more criminalized than gays when it comes to equality. I've used the woman's room for 3 years now and there hasnt been one incident. In fact i haven't heard of any issue. Yet Christians Focus on THIS topic to kill the bill.

Oh and I was FIRED over the bathroom think 2 years after i transitioned. Luckily enough for me i have enough people who are OK with me who heard the reasoning as well as proof that this was the case and law on my side where i live to sue them.

No, that's not what I said, or what I meant to imply. I am talking about the events on a list CADC created and promotes as the top 10 bashiings for 2008. Here is how they described their list:

"The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission (CADC) has prepared a Top Ten list of the most egregious acts of Christian Bashing in America for 2008. Every day in America serious Christians face increasing hostility at work, school, and in the culture because they stand for their faith and values."

CADC says that list is "the MOST EGREGIOUS acts of Christian Bashing in America for 2008". But none of those involved physical violence.

I'm not suggesting there hasn't been physical violence against Christians, but I would think at least one of those would have been on their Top 10 list.

What are you even talking about? Christians are persecuted all over the world. What about the Christians being massacred in Darfur by Muslims? Christians have had centuries of being persecuted, and I mean real persecution, not "Oh those mean people don't like me and won't let me marry my flavor of the month" kind of "persecution".

And being gay is a death penalty offense in many countries. I was speaking of here in America not world wide.

Most therapist know how much emotional distress the religious right causes gays by ostracizing them. I think you need to seek a therapist that's not going to use religion in their practice.

The "religious" right isn't evil, they just do evil things. I don't hate them, I hate the things they do. Because of the sins they commit: lying, grasping for power, harming people with their actions and words, etc.,

I believe they should be pushed to the margins of society, along with their philosophical compatriots, the white supremacists, so the ideals of our country, equality under the law for all deserving citizens, can move forward towards reality.

If they keep committing those sins, I think they should be arrested and imprisoned. They certainly shouldn't be able to marry or have kids - they might indoctrinate their kids with their heinous religious beliefs. They should never be allowed to serve in the military, or be able to have jobs in places where their coworkers disagree with their militant religious rhetoric. If people see them on the street they ought to show their disgust and approbation by calling them names and, if they are really being blatant about shoving their hateful practices down the throats of others by prosetylizing, by applying the amount of force required to convince them and all their followers to stop.

But really, I don't hate them at all.
