Poor Tanya Rider. I terrible for her and her husband. The police in this situation are fucking idiots. What dumbasses.

Tom had to do the whole thing by himself!!! Including the cell phone trace that saved her life! Just think, she almost died because the keystone cops wouldn't take a report and then they assumed she was alive because they were tracing activity on a JOINT ACCOUNT that was actually Tom filling up his tank desperately looking for his wife.

Serious ass clowns, these guys. And the whole time, they're giving him such incredible attitude. Lazy, stupid. I hope every cop involved in this was fired.

Seriously, hats off to you. Way to save your wife's life! I hope your beautiful wife is recovering nicely.

Insane what you went through. Insane. I got so mad watching the Disappeared episode I was yelling at the TV.

imagine knowing if you started yelling that you would be dismissed as the crazy husband. all though i don't think they could have moved any slower. I wanted to scream to fight but had to remain calm it was taking a toll on my sanity. I actually got the impression that they didn't want to find her alive. because then they could turn their efforts into figuring out how I had killed her. question for you this site tells me i am from texas are you in Chicago? filming this episode turned into uite an adventure. By the end we were both wiped out. Oh yeah funny thing happened to the crew. when they were packing up. my former employer loaned us one of his funished model homes. so when they were getting ready to leave the swat team showed up. someone reported them packing stuff out of a model home and they showed in force. Hugo the producer said it was uite scarry at first but looking back he was laughing when he told me.

The only question that needs to be answered is why didn't they look for that sweet beutiful young woman. There is nothing Roxanne could have said to alter the what the sherrif's office did her comments are probibly the only reason they took her dissaperance even remotly seirious. listen to the hell that poor family had to go through. Her being trapped and waiting for help, him in even being able to report it.

This is an amazing story. I just saw the "disappeared" episode. The police officer who participated in the show seemed very arrogant to me. He was so determined to defend the bad choices of law enforcement. An obvious disregard of others. I hope law enforcement where I live is very different.

What ticked me off in the Disappeared episode is the Fred Meyer employee who called the police to tell them Tom was not telling the truth. Did this witch ever even apologize?!

<quoted text>
Me too! I just finished watching the story and was yelling at the TV. Of all the Disappeared episodes, this is the only one that got me so riled up that I would yell obscenities so loud my neighbors could probably hear. Please tell me those cops and dispatchers who would not take the missing person's report are no longer in a position to bungle another case so badly.

On another note, I have to wonder if the Fred Meyer caller was the one who called Tom to ask why Tanya wasn't at work. On the show he says he hesitated and was a little vague because he didn't want to say anything to get his wife in trouble with her work. I wouldn't blame a well meaning person who cares about Tanya for thinking that was a little suspicious, if that is what it was...

I just finished watching the dissappeared episode myself here in Reykjavik. I must say that though the police were totally incompetent and unprofessional in handling Tanya's dissapearance, You have to be thankful that it did not turn out worse than it did. She would have died on impact, a few hours later, three days later considering she had no fluids in the car. She could have been found by someone else who would have harmed her instead of helping. So many scenarios with this case. But she kept living after the crash, hanging on her seatbelt, no food, no water for 8 days. No policeman or fireman could have saved her. LOVE saved Tanya and Tom Ryder. And GOD refused death to take her. Truly a miracle.

Im watching this story right now and can't freaking believe what im hearing that police department is completely incompetent. Im so sorry for what the Riders have been through. Police are supposed to protect and serve but unfortunately in my experience they're only around when you don't need them. God bless Tom Rider I mean what a good guy and god bless Tanya Rider for having the strength to survive such circumstances.

that first 911 operator needs to shoulder a large percentage of blame. what a huge douche bag, control freak that feels powerless at home so needs to assert his power where ever necessary even if obviously unnecessary. he needs to be exposed. what is his name! his actions need to be associated with the lame brain that he is.
