Well, dang. To heck with the murder. Someone inferred racism, and that's just not right! He will be retried Next time, the attorney will be more respectable in front of 'da j... Would it have been an issue if it was an African American as the prosecutor? The state Supreme Court has thrown out a man's murder conviction in a 2006 gang-related ...

This is unmitigated bullshit! To release an obviously guilty gangbanger to prey on productive working taxpayers is a travesty of justice! Hopefully this murderer will be tried again and given the death penalty that he so richly deserves!'Racist' comments indeed!

He will be re-tried, that doesn't mean they are going to set him loose in the mean time. Most likely the jury will arrive at the same conclusion and he will be locked away in a little grey cell, a leech attached to the taxpayers' wallet (it costs roughly $50,000/year for every inmate)

There could be less expensive ways to rehabilitate a violent person (psychedelic drugs + therapy perhaps?) but instead of putting efforts into research we lock those misguided people away and foot the bill.

Now, when you consider that almost 70% of the prison population are drug offenders, 90% of whom were imprisoned because of a non-violent crime, you start to wonder if the War on Drugs is really worth the ridiculous sum of $15 billion per year (in 2010, it's more expensive this year.) If we treat drug abuse like the health issue that it is, and not criminalize these people, then we will have more room for real criminals like the subject of this topic.
