Some shore towns eye sea walls to guard boardwalks
Superstorm Sandy destroyed the boardwalk in Belmar and in other coastal towns. The cost of recovering from the storm is expected to push up property taxes in 2013.

Sea wall is the Definitely the way to go!! Most of Portugal heavy Populated coast line is built that way
