Not sure if the Flanders letter is sincere or a CIA inspired gloat.

Thomas Jefferson would insist on a revolt, but not on the side of single-payer.

Opposition to single-payer/public option is growing exponentially every day, and will continue to do so until this horrifically bad legislative goal is killed ...for however long it takes.

We expect it to come up again, and again. You can expect more of the same, with even more people fighting against it.

What Mr. Jefferson would have done is unknown. He did once write that a revolution is needed every so often but which side he'd be on is nothing but speculation. Jefferson's world was far different than ours in ways he could not have imagined. But if he is to be judged by his deeds rather than his words we must remember that he thought it reasonable to live in luxury provided by several hundred slaves till the day he died. Either he thought this was okay or, as some of his writings suggest, he thought it was morally or economically untenable. If he thought it was okay than he was a vile human being by today's standards. If he thought it was untenable but did it anyway, he was a hypocrite.

He was a man of his time, not of ours. When we say Jefferson would have done this or that we are really saying what we want to happen but, lacking any credibility of our own we invoke the name of an icon. If you want a revolution, that's fine. But remember, your are stating that opinion from the position of a person who's entire life has been the gift of a benevolent society.

True, In Jefferson's day, people weren't as lazy and didn't expect the government to do things for them. Hence, the lack of a right to "health care" mentioned in the Constitution, nor any federal laws providing "health care".
