Congratulations to Felix Bachofnor. Let this be the start of new possibilities for Seaside. I am looking forward to a new style of leadership. I am seriously hoping that it begins with the listening to what the citizens of Seaside want and expect out of their Mayor. Remember, Mayor Bachofnor, if you need help from the people you serve, just ask us. We will be glad to tell you what we think and help in whatever ways we can. Afterall, it is about all of us and we are the one's that voted you in, because we believed you would and could do better. Best wishes in your new job.

Now, now Phil.......... this is a day we can feel good about. In fact, let's all do the happy dance!!!(whatever your style may be?)

Rubio will be out and the New Year will start soon with a new man with a new attitude.

As for Corpuz? He will be on his way out too! I don't know what the process is, but it will happen and the sooner the better.

And to all those other Seaside City Hall employee's that keep screwing up paperwork and still think they have job security? Think again.... Not only are Seaside citizens/voters fed up with lousy service, we are all just fed up with government in general. Change is coming....

This news has made my day! Congratulations Felix!!! We knew you could do it! You are definitely the right person for the job! There is so much work to be done in Seaside, and the citizens of Seaside are eager to move forward! Please, keep us in the loop.. Our trust and confidence in our city government has waned over the past years. Seaside has so much potential. Let's make it a city to be proud of, like this beautiful country we live in, the USA!!

Thank you for being responsible and reporting this growing problem. The shootings in Seaside are becoming more and more frequent, as well! There are alot of illegals hiding out in Seaside! It's scary and very unfair to the US citizen who has worked so hard and even served their Country in the Armed Forces. Many retires call Seaside home, but feel we have been sold-out by local government.

Transparency: I know two people who saw the signal light at Contra Costa and Del Monte "malfunction". In an attempt to analyse multiple accidents at this intersection it became apparent that more than 5 accidents occurred as a result of the malfunctioning signal light. City staff, Mayor, and City Council members, and insurance company and signal light maintenance company were notified and put on notice. Mayor Rubio and the entire Council "talk" about "trancperancy", but ignored the facts in favor of a "cover up". Neither Coast Weekly or the Herald would run a story on the issue. People were injured in some of the accidents. Time the public gets back involved with the day to day business of running our lives. We must stop accepting what the banks, insurance companies, and bureaucrats say. They are "corrupt". Corruption must not be tolerated. Good-bye Mr. Rubio.
Good news finally

I was at Felix' headquarters on election night and had the opportunity to meet and speak with him. I was impressed with his honesty and his determination to make Seaside the city it can and should be.

Felix - congratulations on becoming our new Mayor. I, for one, am looking forward to the fruition of the changes that you envision to improve our city. Let the people of Seaside help you in this endeavor. We got your back.

ITEM 9 - "Resolution Approving the Canvass of the November 2, 2010 General Election and Declaring Official Results of Said Election" (PDF)

You can go to the City of Seaside website and find the above documents that will be signed tonight by Ralph Rubio declaring Felix the winner. Since this is dated today, Dec 2, 2010, I can only assume that Rubio will not be contesting the will of the people who voted for Felix Bachofnor to be Seaside's new Mayor. If this is the case, then thank you Mayor Rubio for deciding to leave with some dignity and class. Congrats to our new Mayor felx Bachofnor.

Seaside needs a change and I'm happy about our new mayor. I hope Ray Corpez goes next. He has allowed the City of Seaside to waste money on way too many internal investigations due to incidents that should have never happened. If the departments and the employees followed the rules that are already on the books, the city would not be in this financial situation. The City Manager and all of the employees should be held accountable for their actions. More work and less goofing off on the job!

well lets see, he would pretend that he created the internet and then try to sell you on global warming so you will spend money on products that companies he has invested it make.

Maybe with the new mayor he can take a fresh look at the BS that the police department is going through. Maybe he should really look at the previous hiring practice of the lame excuse of a police chief that slid by with a nice payout -- had he made the comments to my wife, I would have delivered a nice butt kicking to his chicken S@@T threat.

Dear Herald,

This article, along with the 2 others in this secion, has been on the websit for WEEKS. Are you ever going to update this section with new articles? If this is a ploy to get people to buy your newspaper instead of reading the articles online, it's not going to work. It just makes the Herald look ludicrously lazy.

Could you please provide a link? We update the website daily, so I'm not exactly sure to what you're referring.

Under the section entitled 'Politics' on the left side of the web page, the following 3 articles have been reflected for weeks:

'Alejo builds his reputation: Alejo continues to rise on his way to 28th Assembly seat
Seaside city manager to stay for now
Bachofner grabs Seaside mayor's slot'

Thank you for bringing that to my attention! I had intended to update or remove the Politics listings from the home page in December; I'll take care of that right now!

Thanks again!

Lisa
