Yes. They try to control the town.

No. They stay out of Searcy politics.

i just want to make a comment that speaks for itself and not start anything - i deal in retail and have dealt with several people associated with harding. there have been a few nice ones, but overall, they expect special treatment and will show their true inner self if they don't feel they are getting it. and as far as i am concerned, that is not how a true christian should act. but then again, the true christian seems to be fading into the past...

I've seen the same thing! Hardingites always want special treatment, think they are entitled to lower prices than others because they are connected to the almighty harding.

If you want , move to the liquor selling town.
It seems as if when the others get thickly enough populated , they begin their cry to decay it.
(you've heard the saying if enough of them move into the neighborhood the property value will drop)
Well this is the situation here in Searcy.
And as for drugs and such , its going to be !
Its destructive to lives and areas, yet it is to be
So one day when your able to think with a little wisdom , you just might be able to see it .
Do you want a list of the damnations of a drunkard?
#1.the destructivness of the individuals ability.
#2.the death of others
#3. divorces neglect of children , a carefree attitude (when others need you to care)
#4. the desire to be high, or buzzed .
it goes on and on and on ! so pleas dont bother
about Harding , its only an avenue for thoes who wish to see 'The Other Way'.
Yet too many are just IGNORANT right now.

Aww, poor babies! Can't do what you want to do so let's cry on Topix and blame Big Bad Harding!
I don't care for Harding much, but they don't stop me and aren't the cause of my problems! Harding does so much good, though! Special Olympics was just a couple weeks ago. They hosted it and MANY students volunteered! They do A LOT for the special needs community, you can see them at any of Sunshine School's functions. They also have "Bisons for Christ" when I lived in Searcy they came and raked my yard, and lots of other stuff! As for the "business owners" I'd like to know what business you're talking about! I've been a cashier at Walmart for a long time. We get busy at the start of the semesters with people coming in buying dorm supplies, but never has a Harding Student been rude, etc. I am willing to bet that some of you have been though. Not only to me but to many of my coworkers!

Actually, Harding does do a lot. My parents both work there so I see a lot of behind the scenes stuff. Yeah, it does have a lot of stuck up people and yes, it does influence the fact that it's a dry county but that's not the only reason. I'm not saying Harding is a great place. I can't stand it even though my parents work there. But having Harding here is one of the main reasons people come to Searcy. A lot people move here every year which really helps with the money flow of the town. So while it still isn't a completely wonderful place, it does a lot more for Searcy than people realize.
Exactley. My mom works at harding and although I cant stand it, it does a lot with the people and money circulation.

Idk where you get "rich" students from. Most leave Harding with $50,000 in debt that they will be paying til they re 50. The fact remains - Harding is a world class education, by far the best in Arkansas, and pumps thousands into the Searcy economy --- did I mention they have the 3rd highest number of Pell Grant recipients in the state? Ignorance!

SEARCY has money with out Harding. You have two mean b&b's and people in this town that have a Lotts of money. Most people don't realize some of the older people in this town have a lot of money but you will never know it.

What does that have to do with Harding? That was a person that stole from you, and your own stupidity, by the way, who lays money down in a public place and walks off from it?
