In case you haven't heard, all nurses and techs have been placed on a mandatory overtime schedule of three days one week and four the next. We were not asked or even informed in a meeting. It was just done and your schedules have already been changed to reflect this. In case you are still laboring under the delusion that the three at the top care, please realize that they don't. They don't care how this affects your child care arrangements, your time with your family or your overall quality of life. Many of you will now work one on one off etc so the benefits of working 12 hour shifts will be meaningless and all you will be doing is sleeping and working. While the management leads us in prayer in meetings while making sure they never miss a Sunday service, it's all a disgraceful sham. The employees quality of life means nothing to them. We are minions. We are just a means to an end which in this case is the bottom line. Meanwhile, the hospital president takes home close to half a million a year

And you are mandated to work in white county by what law again? If you don't like the hospital, then move or get used to a longer drive to a different one to work. Be thankful you have a job in this economy.

I don't work there so there's no ya'll in that regard. And your post made absolutely no sense at all. You don't not pay it? What the crap does that even mean.

I'm just saying, be thankful you aren't flipping burgers. If working at the hospital is SO horrible because you have to work overtime, then go somewhere else and let someone who will appreciate that job take your spot. People say that hospital sucks mainly because employees like this post starter are too busy complaining to focus on the job they're hired to do.

So where are the positive comments. Who said a nurses life was going to be easy. If you are in it for the money, you need to go see a career counselor and start on another career.

A poor economy is no excuse to treat employees disrespectfully.

Weak administration?? Have you ever been a hospital administrator? Have you ever worked in any position near hospital administrators? Are you aware of even one of the multiple new laws cutting back reimbursements to hospitals? Medical costs are skyrocketing! People are living longer. More people are coming to the ER and not paying their bills. I admire any hospital administrator & the hospital staff (Dr, RN, dietary worker, janitor) who can keep a hospital running in this day in age. Oh btw, please call WCMC for multiple programs offered free of charge to help improve the lives of our county's citizens. Thank you all WCMC.

I used to work at WCMC. I loved my job and people I worked with. We had amazing teamwork and they truly became my family. In the last year, administration has made that place into a hell hole. They care nothing about their employees. Ray (CEO) actually said in a hospital meeting that nurses were "a dime a dozen". Well sir, I can assure you, we are not. They staff there is over-worked, underpaid, and definitely under-appreciated. It's a sad situation because I loved it there and would still be there had it not been for administration. And to the person who said be thankful you aren't flipping burgers, you obviously are not a nurse bc you would understand that flipping burgers would be tremendously less stressful. We hold people's lives in our hands with no support from our uppers. You can't imagine how hard that is. The dept I was in had a HUGE turnover bc the manager was just as horrible. I was left in a position where I was having to worry about my license bc conditions were so unsafe. The only people they are hiring are new grads bc no one else wants to work for them. The "good" nurses are going elsewhere...bc they can and conditions are better. It's so easy for y'all to say "go somewhere else, stop complaining"....well what about the people who can't...due to family or whatever they have going on. WCMC knows they are the only hospital in 50 miles and some workers are "stuck". It's a shame that they feel they can treat employees in such a way. I moved on, and trust me...not every hospital is like that. WCMC will change for the better when management changes....
not just a peon at WCMC

Those factors, though true, have no relevance to how administration treats employees. WCMC brings in nearly $1million monthly. WCMC purchased a laser for surgery in excess of $1million. WCMC has one of the lowest paid staffs in Arkansas.

Thanks for explaining it so well. That's similar to the position I'm in. I love my dept and coworkers, but this administration is ruining it for so many of us. I have a child in the wcmc daycare and they only let us leave them there 3 days a week. I don't know what I'm going to do on the forced fourth day of work in a week.
