Obviously you don't now your history. Arkansas. Alabama, and Mississippi celebrate Robert e lee day on the same day as martin Luther king. Just in case you don't know who Robert e lee is, he is a slain civil leader of the confederate army.

No need to disrespect Mr King because ur too hillbilly to understand fairness and basic human rights.

Keep this in mind! There is no white man that had the balls Mr King did. Never was there a white man that stood up and fought everything against him single handedly, refusing to bow to pressure and threats.

He was a brave and wise man, one you aren't capable of understanding. Nor do you have the guts to say happy James earl ray day in public among mixed colors. You are a coward, unlike the great dr Martin Luther King jr.

As much major crap that our country is plagued with, it would take a man of this status to rally people together to fight again for what is right! I wish he were still here or another with his same qualities to stand and fight abs motivate Americans to take back what's been stripped from us, and put out the corrupt politicians that smile in our faces and stabs in our backs.

So until a white man has the courage to do the things mr king did, stfu and get educated on the important things.

After President Dwight D. Eisenhower revealed on national television that one of the four “great Americans” whose pictures hung in his office was none other than Robert E. Lee, a thoroughly perplexed New York dentist reminded him that Lee had devoted “his best efforts to the destruction of the United States government” and confessed that since he could not see “how any American can include Robert E. Lee as a person to be emulated, why the President of the United States of America should do so is certainly beyond me.” Eisenhower replied personally and without hesitation, explaining that Lee was, “in my estimation, one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation. . . . selfless almost to a fault . . . noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as I read the pages of our history. From deep conviction I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee’s caliber would be unconquerable in spirit and soul. Indeed, to the degree that present-day American youth will strive to emulate his rare qualities . . . we, in our own time of danger in a divided world, will be strengthened and our love of freedom sustained.”

He lost a lot of people's respect when we found out while he was out preaching the word he was sleeping with women other than his wife. He (in the least) tainted his legacy. He should have kept his &@!!$( your words not mine ) in his pants big/small white/black. It's a practice what you preach thang, not a racial thang.

I'm sure both were not perfect, neither are we. Maybe today will encourage people to read about both men and form their opinions based on facts not rhetoric.

Kristin no disrespect but he was not a slain civil leader. He was the Head General over the Confederate Army, he was not slain in battle he surrender in Appomattox in 1865, a great man but not a civil rights leader.

Both men played a very important part in the growing of our country.

I can appreciate the Robert E Lee posts because he was the head of our confederate army & is a huge part of history. It should be noted too that he did NOT own slaves as most of the generals of that day. Ulysses S. Grant leader of the Union Army did own slaves.

Martin Luther King Jr is unsurpassed in the area of civil rights in his day & ours. He also was a republican & the leader of the NRA in that time proudly marched with him.

They are equally deserving of respect but only those that are not ignorant & racist could see that.
