Animal shelter looking more realistic

A new animal shelter is still in the offing for Russell County, but not without more money and plenty of discussion by the county commission.

Phenix City needs a new animal shelter badly. My 85 year old grandmother got a puppy for conpanionship. It wasn't supposed to get very big but it did and everyone was afraid it would trip her. No one would adopt the dog so we had to take in to the shelter. The first two shelters had absoulutly no room and the last admited the dog would surely be put to sleep. Therefore we took it home again. About 2 weeks later the dog triped her, she fell outside and sat alone for an hour. If there was another animal shelter that wouldn't have happened. Because we woulden't be afraid we were sending a good pet to sudden death.

I don't see the need for thier phone number in the phone book. For the most part they all have a deaf ear to any and all ideas except thier own. I personaly know this is true. A prime example of this is going on right now. In 2002? I think we the citizens of Russell county voted down zoneing twice once in the primary's and then it was placed on the ballot in the general election by petition. At that time we also voted against a master plan & planning commision. Take notice the Russell county commission is now making an end run in the al. legislature for both.
