Well, it appears that you, the council, are between a rock and a hard place:
the rock being the good people of your city, and the hard place being the criminal (or, forgive me, the former criminal) represented by wannabe fame-grabbers, obviously being paid actual moneys from "someone".
You are, indeed, in a difficult spot...NO you are not!
Just turn to common sense and logic.. right is right, wrong is wrong.
I don't live in your city (thank the good Lord), I just wanted to support those of you with decency in your heart and wish you the best, my prayers are with YOU....
and may the children of the "hard place" people be very careful throughout their life, how sad it would be to have your Grandma stand there, defending their rapist.

Eva, As regards to your comment I disagree. Here is the thing about registered EX-sex offenders. Only a small percentage of which are for offenses against children. I'm a registered person that has an offense (misdemeanor) that wasn't involving a child over 12 years ago. I'm a 16 year Army veteran and a salon owner and hairstylist. Was I guilty? Yah, but after therapy, probation and time served I'm a better person for it. I'm also a father, a son and a brother. Last year I received a US Congressional award for community service for helping cancer patients and the homeless. I saved my son's life twice once from choking and once from drowning I WAS THERE so I could do that! But people like you would disallow that Right to me and my son. It's also my son's right to have his parent there as his last line of defense. What these ordinances say is that my son (because he's my son), is not good enough for me to be there to save him for that third time. That Eva breaks not only Constitutional law it breaks natural law and spiritual law. You see The DA the Orange County Supervisors and even the president of the United States didn't make me a parent. God did, they're not GOD. To be allowed in public places with your child is a fundamental thing. Some that can not or should not be trifled with. It is that serious! I presented be fore the OC Supervisor on the issue on May 8th 2012. Go to public comments under video. You'll find my argument quite interesting. The Constitution was put in place to protect the Rights of the few from the actions of the many. I took an oath to protect that Constitution not only from those in tanks and carrying guns but to protect the ideals and principles it was founded upon. that also stands for those among us that are registered sex offenders. Spiritually even Christ forgave an adulterous caught in the very act. These registrants have paid their debt unlike that woman and all they ask is the just live normal law-biting lives and to contribute back to society, but I guess that is asking to much from America (the home of the brave and land of the FREE).

Who’s children were put at risk? The registrant’s child was by not allowing their first line of protection (their parents) to be there for them. Kids often get hurt in parks. Thank God those children by chance didn’t get hurt during the time these horrible, evil punitive measures were in place! Tony Rackauckas used the registrants as his whipping boy for votes to get re-elected. That is not an uncommon thing for politicians but to do so by putting children at risk is beyond belief and itself should be criminal. I think it is vitally important to define to these leaders what harm is more likely to take place in a park. Has there been any history of registrants harming children in parks? No? But there has been history of children sometimes being hurt in parks whether that be by falling from a tree or choking on a hot dog. A registrant’s child isn’t good enough to be protected by their parent because of their parent’s status. That ladies and gentlemen is wrong at the most basic level. About the sheriff’s waiver program…what about the term Law ENFORCEMENT agency allows them to give registered sex offenders a pass to break the law? It’s remiss of their position to do such a thing.
