Letter: Sewage Treatment Plant Closing Raises Concerns for Nassau Residents
I believe the citizens of Nassau County should know that under the Suozzi Administration they elected to close down the Cedar Creek Process Control Lab in Seaford,A which tests sewage and sludge daily for both Bay Park and Cedar Creek Sewage plants.

I have lived in Seaford Harbor for 55 years I am now 75 years old. Cedar Creek has been a sore spot for many years. it has hurt the realty economy in Seaford more then Wantagh. My house has been ont he market for 2 years I keep dropping the price lower and lower and no one is interested soon as they find out a Sewer Treatment plant is in my backyard in Seaford Harbor.
I can smell sewer gas and sewer poo daily in Seaford I have learned to live with it for many years. I think it is no big deal now.

Yes, I agree this is a trashy south shore area. Seaford and Wantagh is really skuzzy and a lot of white trash you can find near Cedar Creek - houses are much much cheaper and hard to sell near Cedar Creek. Kids hang out in Cedar at night do drugs and do drugs.

oh my dear this sewer ppant has always been a pain in the rear.I get bubbles anytime it rains in my backyard we thing it maybe sewer gas coming up from the ground in Seaford NY 11783. I called the EPA they just inceted a PVC pipe in to the gound and monitor the water table every 3 months. How sad Cedar Creek ruined the ground water.

Long time Seaford resident and I seen Cedar Creek bad in the early 80's to better in the early 90's now it's back to the ealrly 80's but we are in 2011.(Budget cuts)(lack of qualified people running the plant)(union issues)(lack of maintence)(lack of residential concern and out cry).
Cedar Creek has made it difficult to sell a house and even dropped home prices in the area around this plant.

I live in East Rockaway and I am so glad Cedar Creek is picking up the extra sludge. I just wish they would close Bay Park sewer Treatment plant and just use Cedar Creek in Wantagh seaford area.

The smell from cedar Creek has been in seaford and Wantagh for 30 years no one cares anymore, most don't have a fight left. They can do what ever they want. I broke one of the L's from the 3 L's.
Seaford in not any of the L's. No wonder I bought a cheap house in Seaford and now can't sell it.
