I believe that the city employees should get a COLA. Believe it or not many positions in the city are grossly underpaid. As the cost of living goes up they can't afford to put food on the table. Anybody that thinks all city employees are lazy and apathetic should spend a day in their shoes.
I would hate to work for the city and have to put up with Elaine's pompous attitude for the kind of money they're getting paid.

In the heat and cold, dirty and difficult, and they get called out at all hours on emergency calls. The Mayor of our small town has nothing but praise for our city workers. They voluteer at community fuctions, the city food pantry, and on more than a couple of occasions I've seen them stopped at the home of a senior, or disabled citizen to help out with difficult chore for that person. I don't know about La Porte, but here we really like our city employees. They are so much more, they are all one of us.

Well, arenít you all special? To see you write it, you would think that every city worker arrives early, toils without breaks or lunch and works late into the evening before taking meals to the elderly and picks up litter in the park after hours. I am sure that is true for every single employee.

However, I think you are criticizing me because I am pointing out an unpleasant truth: Raises should be given for superior work performed. That is more work in the regular amount of time or improved results in the same amount of time.

Every clerk, dog catcher, truck driver, janitor, councilman, jailer, fireman or street sweeper has NOT done that. A blanket raise would be cheating the taxpayers out of a competitive city workforce at a reasonable cost.

I would happily endorse raises for the few that have done excellent work, consistently and continually. There are very few of them, maybe 10-15% of workers. We might even want to give a small raise to another 30-40% that we want to keep just to avoid the disruption of their position.

If a city worker finds themselves underpaid for a long period of time, they have two choices: Accept that you are not quite as good as you think you are or get another job that pays more.

To Hell with you Elaine, I do not think I am special, I do know that our city employees are. Never said they came early, stayed late, or went without meals or breaks. What I said about them was TRUE, and yes I was talking about every single city employee. They all live in our town and take a great deal of pride in both their job and their town. Fortunatly we don't have to put up with a--holes like you here. Let's face it you need to stay where you are because you and your attitude wouldn't cut it here. I don't know how good I am, I know I'm better than you, but that doesn't take much.

Your envy is showing again. I will stay where I am, overpaid and not looking for a handout from the retirees and teenagers of LP.

So I'm selfish because I don't want YOU to waste money? Who's twisting words now? The lazy, under qualified, overfed, undereducated city worker, crying for a raise because he's jealous of his neighbors.

If you want a raise, retrain yourself and move up or move out.

NOT because you don't want to waste money, BUT BECAUSE YOU ARE SELFISH! Not only are you selfish, you are mean and hurtful. You call the city workers those hateful and insulting names, and that Elaine was uncalled for. You want to call me names and insult me FINE just TYA, because I know you for the mean, hateful, and selfish b---h that you are. OH by the way, while a raise is always nice, I make a good wage now and I have asked for nothing for myself, I also do not live in La Porte, and if you are an example of the type of people who do live there, I never would. So just go FO. And Fed on this particular topix; if I wanted any s--t out of you I would just squeeze your fat bald head.

Oh! Someone is getting upset. Did we touch a nerve? Maybe you secretly admit that you don't really earn your pay? Or is it that you don't have enough saved to retire and you're worried about losing your job to someone younger and prettier?

Well, Am I selfish because I want to keep the money that I EARNED? You seem to think so. I would recommend you kick in a few more dollars of your own money to provide those raises. Don't want to? I thought so!(Selfish you!)

Why are you ranting on this subject if you don't even live here?

Now go grab another can of Ensure, Maury Povich is on.

You give yourself way too much credit. You are merely another of those little annoyances that we all encounter from time to time. I earn my pay each and everyday, I also learned at an early age that to worry is like rocking in a rockingchair. it gives you something to do but accomplishes absolutly nothing. Retirement, money, age, or looks, no problem. You damn sure are selfish, not because you want to keep the money you earned, but because you would deny others a living wage. I have no problem with kicking in a few more dollars to pay for the city services I recieve, as I have always believed you get what you pay for. Quality pay rate tends to attract quality personnel. I am not ranting merely telling your ignorant self absorbed self what I think of you and your me first everybody else last attitude. Oh what is Ensure, and who in the hell is Maury Povich?

It's settled then. Since you have "no problem", I will decide how much you should "contribute" to raises for the overstaffed city.

BTW: while higher pay may attract better workers, giving raises to those already here does not make them better. It only encourages the bad ones to stay.

And what does this mean:" I am not ranting merely telling your ignorant self absorbed self what I think of you and your me first everybody else last attitude." Are you already hitting the bottle?
