This past weekend we visited your peaceful town for the first time. Wednesday the 11th was an overcast day, main street was empty, stores open for business hoping for a successful summer of consumerism. We took full advantage. We parked and visited approximately 12 stores purchased from 6 of them along with an over night at a wonderful ocean view establishment. When I see a parking ticket on my windshield. He is my distaste - First ample parking due to very little traffic in the stores, No kiosk for parking a sign posted 2hour parking 9am- no end time picture of proof. Seeing how we parked at noon and it being just before start of season assumptions landed me a 54.00 ticket. Shame on Monmouth twsp,or spring lake parking authority on ticketing a consumer whom actually contributes to the success of the community. By your actions you are asking people to park then move car to park in another spot which creates a sense of why bother shopping/continue shopping in community when the fear of parking discourages rather than encourage continued shopping. The "wealth" of the community and the cost of taxes kiosks should have been placed for actual collection of the privilege to park. Or better yet free parking due to the Wealth of the community & the taxes begs a question- When is enough Enough? Retail is challenging enough for business owners with the rise and fall of economics shouldn't a town like yours go out of its way to encourage visitors to come shop, eat, sleep over while keeping the flow of the community active and healthy? Shame on you again for feeling that taking advantage of an out of stater in abuse of the system with a $54.00 ticket was a way to stick it to them.. This "wonderful" town has left a bad taste in our mouths and we will go out of way to avoid and tell others to avoid your little town. Shameful Spring Lake NEW JERSEY
