Walking down the streets of this 1 square mile town no one would ever suspect The Village of Sea Cliff as being striff with bigotry. Yet a new mandate has been made by the Village of Sea Cliff to target practicing Roman Catholics right infront of their church and chapel located across the street. Outside of Saint Boniface the Martyr Roman Catholic Church located on Glen Avenue in Sea Cliff a code inforcement truck lays in wait not to help the elderly and church patrons to cross the streets safely; but to harass those attending Funeral services and most recent Palm Sunday services. Apalling is the term I use in the disrespect of those long time residents of Sea Cliff who have helped build the community; especially on the days they are solemly bereaving their deceased loved ones. Historically Sea Cliff was born on faith of German Methodists. In 1874 thirteen Methodist families who resided in Sea Cliff the year round organized the Methodist Episcopal Church. Now, Christianity is being publicly condemed by the Village. Especially on Glen Avenue and the surrounding blocks. On Palm Sunday, three houses of worship within blocks of each other were targeted by the Village while Christians within were simultaneously in prayer. The Gospel Hall, located on the corner of Sea Cliff and Carpenter Avenue, Saint Lukes Episcopal Church located on the Southwest corner of Glen and Roslyn Avenues. And Saint Boniface on Glen Avenue. I am quite sure that If Daniel Carpenter,( a founding father and Christian) of Sea Cliff were alive today this agreivous act by the Village of Sea Cliff would come to a swift end and religious freedom would be served. This is not a matter of public safety but one of greed!

Mr Christian (I mean Chris Pierce)- No parking means no parking. Has code enforcement been ticketing legally parked cars? Give me a break!

To SCFDLEAKS: First of all, you dare to use this moniker, inferring that the rest of the volunteers feel the same way as you. Secondly, "No parking means no parking" is a mindless, self-serving and stupid comment which labels you as a bigot and begotten disciple of the Devil himself. Palm Sunday and parking tickets flourish? What kind of message is this giving to the taxpayers and residents of Sea Cliff? Zeal can be a productive activity, but overzealousness is a crime. Let the Mayor of Sea Cliff stop this idiotic practice of parking violations around churches on Sundays. PUT up signs to that effect. Please. Immediately.
If Christian is indeed Christopher Pierce, then more power to him for speaking out in this manner!

put a clamp on it dont know what you are talking about. no parking in a certain area is there for safety reasons not to stop people from having to walk a half a block to church. you sir are a turd sandwich.

Giggles: Put your own clamp on it, pal. Warning notices on the windshields instead of insidious summonses for first offenders would have been a more effective solution to the parking on Sundays. Greed IS a motivating factor here. The Village seeks revenue any way it can get it, but some avenues like this are out of line. I think the Village should bend a little bit here to enable Sea Cliff residents to adjust their parking habits. And you, sir, seem a bit too familiar (make that obsessed) with turd sandwiches.

ok bone head... how are the code enforcers to know who they handed out warnings to and who they have not? quit trying to stir the pot when there is a clear issue with parking. have you ever been to st boniface church? the pastor is always reminding people to park where they should and be respectful of those who live near the church by not blocking the driveways.

Giggles: Get real and get a real name while you're at it. This is not a laughing matter, after all. I think this parking fiasco was overkill by the Village. Probably came from one person, like many complaints do, and the village officials jump. Go back to Partners, pal, your stool is growing cold.

Discovered this thread buried below many others which followed this spring. Haven't heard around whether parking near churches is still an issue. Does anybody have any news to share on this?

yes, you are fat and joe, if you have an issue why dont you go to village hall and say something?

Giggles: You're so cute I can't stand it. Parking has always been a problem around Sea Cliff. The laws that prevail today were written in 1979 from a state book of codes for villages in New York. It seemed so easy at the time to just ban parking all over and then give residents and visitors patches of available spaces, many with certain hours attached. It's about time that we revised the code book and update these antiquated laws that hamper our current quality of life (two and three=car families with less than enough offl-the-=street space to park).

if you dont have the space to park in your driveway dont by another car..... one of the good things about the towns around here is that there is no on the street parking at night..why dont you do something about people hoppin the fence at the beach.... dummy

Hey, Giggles, if you want Joe Krupinski to solve allthe problems that Sea Cliff supposedly has, you should have voted him mayor in 2009. You lost your opportunity, pal. Jumping the fence at the beach? C'mon, there's bigger fish to fry. Parking is a major one that has never been properly addressed since 1979, year of the last codebook edition. Time for another, that's for sure. Let's ask ole Joe if he would take a look and sjuggest some new laws that woujld work to the advantage of the average taxpayer. Work where there's a quirk.

We are dealing with a greedy village as far as parking is concerned. No parking is a money=maker. There is no relief for residents who do not have space for more than one car on their property. The curt answer? Get rid of one car is an abomination of bureaucracy. We like to think we're in control of our destiny, but Sea Cliff thwarts the equality we ought to enjoy with off-the-street parking when necessary. Time to rewrite the code on this subject as a previous commenter just ssuggested.

You're right. Parking is an abomination in this village of ours. Sea Cliff is the Village of No Parking. Taxpayers suffer if they don't have space on their property for more than one car. It's all a money-maker, like you said. When are the mayor and village attorney going to own up to this fact.

We had planned on making a graveldriveway on our property. Because we did not have to wnt to play " musical cars" when our daughter got her first car. She parked in an area with dirt on the fo lawn...after 3 years we got a notice from Code Enforcer " ILLEGAL to park on lawn" Went to Village Hall and was told we needed a 4x4x8 drywell. Even with gravel.
As of March of this year ...after speaking with the new building code enforcer DL, we learned this was not the case....PS the space that my child's car took up was 10X8.
How's that fo you...?

"the white zone is for loading and unloading only" -

Hey. I have an idea! Sea Cliff should put up a sign at every legal parking space, just to let people know exactly where they may park. Then the village can put up a sign in every single space where you can't park, just like they have been doing all over town. Has anyone noticed the two big arrow signs at the Bathway Steps that empty onto the Boulevard that point out where one may NOT park? I must mention I have been taken aback at the growing signage around our town: maybe the devil is at work here too. Goodness knows that people wouldn't know what to do if not directed by adamant signs with arrows.

Maybe we could change the name of the village to SIGN CLIFF, NY! I could bring that up at a village meeting!
