Can Scranton be in the news any more? Does the mayor have a PR department what with "The Office", the Bob Caseys, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Paul and Mira Sorvino, and the Yankees? Even Fox News and al-Jazeera TV have been broadcasting live from the Electric City. Martin Scorsese might as well join the crowd.

For anyone who has not read this book "I Heard You Paint Houses", it is one of the best pieces of writing I have seen quite a while. I am sure that these masterful hollywood heavyweights will bring a certain life to this book, nothing will be beat the author stimulating and chilling depiction of the true life of the mob.

score-sleazy, like kubrick, doesn't make ENTERTAINING movies; joe peschi saved goodfellas from being ANOTHER score-sleazy box-office flop.

(i stole score-sleazy from johnny legend).

i just watched the godfather for the millionth time. score-sleazy's mom did, at least, recomend richard conte for a godfather role. peter bogdonovich turned down the chance to direct the godfather. rod steiger wanted to play michael! and, if you check a clip on youtube, deniro would have been terrible as sonny.

the sopranos is better than any score-sleazy movie.

(and some scenes from the movie barfly were stolen from the 40s noir CRISS CROSS.)

Eleven people died in the first five days after Backdraft was released.

The national Fire protection Association stated that movie set them back by fifty years.

This is a great book, very important to a true understanding of the latter half of 20th century American history. Read ii if you have not. This is the right crew to make an outstanding film from an excellent book about an important figure in mob and US history, Frank, "The Irishman" Sheeran, who amongst other things killed Jimmy Hoffa on July 30th, 1975...

Scranton, the bedrock of state politics and the mob. Hmmm, what an unusual combination. Right.

ok , I take that back you know your films, I agree with BarFly info you posted. How about all the classic rip-offs in the movie "I'm not there"? too many to mention. I love 40's noir which is why I subscibe to netflix. But I still think you are being too hard on Marty, give him credit for Raging Bull and Taxi Driver at least.

would TAXI DRIVER have been any different/worse if depalma had directed it?

depalma wanted to direct TAXI DRIVER; depalma and deniro worked together in '60s. and depalma later made a movie called WISEGUYS---the origonal title of a book that scorsese had to change to...goodfellas.

book and doc. EASY RIDERS, RAGING BULLS has about all these '70s directors, many proteges of...roger corman.

corman even helped scorsese with MEAN STREETS (which had filmed in l.a. interiors).

david carridene in mean streets, which has a corman poe movie in it, and scene ripped off from machine gun kelly.

corman's actor/writer robert towne also did some ghost writing for bonnie and clyde movie.

i like '70S movie RANCHO DELUXE, nothing to do with corman/scorsese, but fun movie of modern day cattle rustlers (two minor godfather actors in it).

I saw BackDraft for the first time a few weeks ago. It was suspenseful. However, I think it would have been better if I was it on the big screen in the movies. Interesting info on Backdraft.

If they died imatating a movie character, the world is better off, they obviously had no brains in the first place.
