Drain the dams! As a member of Twin Lakes, the TLOA spends inordinate amount of money in keeping the dam in check! It is time to drain the dams; TLOA see the dam as a money pit (taking money from the members)! Drain them all!

I agree 110%....all they do is worry about those dams.....while everything else is going to heck in twin lakes.....the board worries about dumb stuff as always.

Can we get an independent inspector to look at this too? I don't know how much water is in that dam and the one right below it, but if it's enough that eventually runs into the Rivanna and can flood parts of Charlottesville.

One of the reasons I moved to Twin Lakes was because of the lakes. Draining them will lessen my property value, as least the enjoyment of my property. Keep the lakes!

I heard these dams have been under review for years and the minor actions of the board have created a huge liability for both the potential victims (if the dams fail) as well as the homeowners who will be held financially responsible for any penalties/lawsuits directed at the HOA. Just in time for the spring rains.

I used to live there until I got fed up with TLOA's excuses for not fixing the roads. It seems all they want to do is get more money from the residents. The lakes are actually a joke and add little or no value to any home there. Heave you ever looked closely at these lakes? They're nasty. They're filled with trash, and the grounds around them are disgusting. TLOA has been throwing good money at these cesspools for years. The local "boys" that continue to damage them with their 4 wheelers and pickups will never stop, and the police have much more important things to do than sit and wait for them.
It used to be a nice place to live. Other than a neighbor that would let his dogs bark incessantly, and threaten me and my wife when we asked him to bring the dogs in, it was a great place to live. So glad we moved away from that whack job.

On the contrary, the way your local gov't deals with things, your property value would increase if the lakes were drained and they became a soccer field. We(my excavating/landscaping company) have filled in a number of smaller ponds and turned them into useful areas. Depending on where you are, and local BS, I mean, local and state rules, at some point you will hit that wall where it just isn't worth it to keep dealing with permits, the DEQ, and all other associated issues. THAT is what will drive up the cost, and why a watershed can be a HUGE PITA.

Isn't that the same lake (reservoir) they drained to look for Samantha Clarke two years ago?
