The leaders of FFF are so desperate to stay relevant that they keep calling the media every couple of days to "have a story" -- because it frustrates them that the BoS and the SB are not interested in including FFF in their budget conversations with one another.

As an NBC29 viewer, I am tired of these stories.

I wish the reporter would actually fact check. There is not $8.1 million in reserves, because more than $7 million of that is not able to be touched due to law. The locality has to keep a certain percentage of their budget in tied up in reserves. The county code stipulates 12%. The county budget is 66 million. That is close to $8 million that cannot be touched out of the reserves.

The Foff people are also omitting that the only reason they renewed talks about money is that they heard the supervisors are able to refinance the school bonds. If the bonds to get bought on the bond market, the BOS will get a little extra money (probably in the spring at the earliest). Yet as soon as they heard that, they started calling and petitioning to get the BOS to give them more and then "pay it back later".

Great logic -- borrow from one pile of money to pay back with another pile of money that doesn't exist yet. And the schools wonder why some taxpayers don't want to give any more $$ to the schools to make up for their shortfall?

Albemarle should help pay. They send all of their garbage trucks here and make a mess.

If Albemarle and Charlottesville won't manage their own waste they should send some extra money here.

FOFF is the biggest problem in this whole debate Bill Sullivan has his own flip flop agendas and uses this group to do it. Last month at the school board meeting he was all for pushing more furlogh days. want to fix this issue?? let the SB and BOS work together and do it and get BILL SULLIVAN and his unethical FOFF group out of all county proceedings..

The overpaid teachers in the socialist indoctrination centers they like to call schools do not deserve any more money. They deserve our contempt and scorn.

Good question! about the associations between length of years living in Fluvanna, strength of commitment to the County, and how one votes on the issues at hand.

Simple research for someone to do:

compare there variables - how many years living in Fluvanna, child-years with children or grandchildren in Fluvanna schools, and stance on the issues are hand (e.g. support for transferring monies into Schools to cover furlough days)- for each elected Supervisor, each elected School Board Member, and each high level County executive.

This might tell you something. And, certainly would provide some differentials to consider.

It is my understanding that the shortfall in the school budget is a miscalculation on the part of the school system. It is my opinion that the schools should make up the shortfall from a mistake they made. I have no children in the schools but have worked in education for over 30 years. I don't think the budget should be balanced on the backs of the teachers. The school's primary responsibility is education, not sports. I am certain that if the parents put thier heads together instead of circulsting petitions to ask for more money from the board of supervisors they would find a way to raise the money to make spring sports self-supporting.

A simole pay cut of 10 or 15% for the teachers wold orovide enough money to restore sports, art, music, and other programs. It is the greed of the teachers that is the problem

Channel 29:
Ask the School Board office to make available to the public what they are getting paid there. Include the bonuses and raises given out over the last few months.

Come on people!

Do a story on the pay of the Central Office! There is so much money tossed around and paid out to these employees, it's not funny.

Sports are mostly self-supporting already as they have their own budget and not part of the the school budget. If it wasn't for sports, arts, band, and other school activities you won't need some of the teachers that have jobs because a lot of the kids come to school to do these to get out of these areas that offer them nothing.

I also hope that these people that reach out to the news to report these start reaching out to all parents as I don't live in the lake or a rich part of the county and have never heard anything my opinion or asked to signed some petition. Watching on 29 news you can tell that this person lives very nice, and all my neighbors say the same thing as they have not heard anything from anyone else.

Yes it was the school fault in a miscalculation so why should the BOS keep bailing them out year after year. The SB need to learn to raise the money theirself. Having their children in sports not at the school level yet we do fundraising for our teams to raise money for items where we actually get more than just 5 or 10 % out of it. I mention once about why don't we use what the county owns for our fall festivals instead of renting from a local company and I am all into helping a company but if it saves it saves. We need to start using our heads and stop blaming others and have others fix our problems.

It is SIX furlough days! We have "servered" one. Why does everyone keep saying 4? Four were added to the 2 we already had!

You are overpaid also & you should not get a raise for 10 years. And when you do get a raise, it should be 5 cents more.
