I am shocked and saddened by the heartless comments posted here. I have known this young man since he was a little boy. He was a student at UVA and a great kid. His loving family is suffering from the greatest tragedy they will ever have to endure. Instead of posting cruel comments, dig deep and pray for his family and friends.

Not only are the comments cruel from those that hide their pathetic faces behind a computer screen you make your entire community in VA, who I'm sure are not all as pathetic as you, look bad. Of course you must realize the family of this well loved young man is looking at articles online to learn more about the tragedy. Yet you still make comments about something you know absolutely nothing about. I would wish ill upon those that have made negative comments on the subject but most of us already know you sit in your hovel pathetically writing negative comments about sad news stories. So with that in mind, I know your life probably cant be any worse. As for everyone else, how nice to be thinking of someone you may not even know. RIP. There are far more people thinking of you in the positive light you deserve.

To the family and friends of this young man, I am very sorry for your loss. This must be a terrible shock to you and I cannot imagine the pain and grief you must be experiencing. For the folks running the train, this must be terrible for you as well and I hope you are able to get support and counseling to get you through this.

NBC29: I have to ask why, in a situation like this, you aren't putting comments in a moderation queue or disabling comments. The insensitivity and complete and total disregard for the life of another human being displayed by some posters here is truly appalling.

This "bum" was a UVA student, now with a grieving family and friends. All of you should get your facts straight before responding in such negative, unsupportive rants. This UVA student and his family deserve much better from the community he decided to get his education from.
My prayers go out to the Family, Friends and also to the train engineer that will live with this for the rest of their lives. God Bless!

I am shocked by the cruelty of people on this forum. The article clearly states that the young, 18-year-old was a UVA student. This is a tragedy, and those who joke about it should be ashamed. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved the boy whose life ended far too soon.
