Darn shame she did'nt have a S&W 500 Magnum to use on the slob, he or she would have been all over the inside of the car. I love gun control, gun control is I quote: A firm grip on a large caliber hand gun.

That is not good gun control... one shot one kill is good gun control. I can have a firm grip and miss all day.

Not that it wouldn't have been prudent but she would probably been charged with murder, the abduction would have been her word against a dead man.

Amazing what a sorority party, a little alcohol and a "safe" Charlottesville can do!

It may have not been the best idea to be walking alone at 2:30 AM but there may have been a credible reason (her friend(s) left her, avoidance of drinking and driving, she got out of work late and her car didn't start, etc.). Irregardless, the problem is the guy that assaulted her.

No one "blames" the victim: the abductor is the guilty one.

That said, to get into a car with a stranger, particularly at 2:30 a.m., is not a smart choice.

Nor it a good idea to end an event by "dropping everyone off at Beta Bridge" in the middle of the night.

UVA students have good brains. Use them.

Probably from too much "studying", the student was so worn out they couldn't tell the difference between a taxi and a regular car.

Why is it that no one thinks to get a tag number? That is the first thing I would look for!

The reality is it takes two to commit a crime: the Victim and the Criminal. However, We shouldn't really blame the victim for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. We should use this unfortunate incidents as a lesson for others.
As stated before, don't get in a stranger's car at 2:30 in the morning. This rarely ends well.
Bunch of Kudos to the victim for not listening to those "experts" who actually recommend that victims not fight back. IMHO, her decision to take control of the situation is what allowed her to escape. I hope this is the lesson that other would-be victims take to heart.
How many lessons is it going to take?

Not blaming the victim, but alcohol does diminish the ability to make wise choices. On the flip side college students will be college students and predators know this. Students need to watch out for each other and university towns simply need to be more "crime preventative" and vigilant in protecting their community of young people. But yes, ultimately, the perpetrator is to blame.

Did the car she got into look like a cab? Why is she out so late & not with someone else? It's not safe by yourself at night time for anyone!

Perhaps she did have a perp description, perhaps she did get a car description...if so, why is it not in this article? How will he be caught? How can others be looking for him? Can we have a follow-up please?

NBC29, is there a reason why a description of the suspect has not been released? We would like to request this information be made public, for the safety of the students and citizens of the community.

Don't take candy or rides from strangers. They teach this to little tiny kids. How did she miss this lesson? Glad she got away. Hope they catch the creep. At least we know it's not that Mark Weiner guy in jail awaiting trial for abduction with attempt to defile. He also cruised the streets offering rides to women and then nabbed at least one of them. Worked as manager of the Food Lion. Is this just a common pastime for some guys?

If you are a cop, you would know that. Most people don't know to look at the tag! So Mr Cop, educate people.

People get stupider by the minute. Not taking rides from strangers is Kindergarten stuff. Its a wonder she has survived this long...
