Short of anything beyond conjecture and rumor the police really do need a little more for a search warrant for Hardee's. Make no mistake, Barker did it, the police and prosecutors did a fine job with what they had and a jury gave him 18 years. Your justice system at work. Simple as that. Unless of course we want to enact a code to waterboard the SOB. Works for me

Except for the typo's and grammatical errors. Do NBC 29 reporters have
a HS education?
Are you a grade school teacher? Your post has nothing
to do with the subject!

Funny when law enforcement doesn't find anything "they fail". The area was checked according to the news. Armchair detectives unite! I think CSI show might be leading the public to believe all police can do what they do. I wonder if CSI really can do all the stuff they have in the show.
I'm an avid CSI fan, and once the forensic consultant for the show was on Today or some show like that, and she said that all that technology is real, but no one lab has it all.

I'm not sure, but feel more than likely they do indeed have a high school education. I realize it is not important to spell correctly on a message board, but if you're going to point out errors, then you should consider removing the apostrophe from the word typos as with the apostrophe it is in possessive form. Typo is singular and typos is plural.

I was then and am still in the Fire Service in this county. I along with many others did a "line search" starting on Wolf Trap Road and going straight over the mountain until we got to Cismont. There were 2 massive searches like that in that area. The only thing we found were Copperhead snakes the size of baseball bats! Back then, Detective Jimmy Higgins of the Albemarle County Sheriff's Office was leading the investigation. We NEVER came close to finding Katie but all means of endeaver were employed, including a woman who was apritiual "see all", she claimed to have great feelings that Katie was near water. It has always been suggested that as a construction worker, working then on the Pantops Hardees, that he buried her in the foundation and the cement pad was poured the following day. The X-Ray machines at North Anna could provide some very interesting information. The fact is that he did commit the murder and nothing will ever sway me from that idea. There is more to say but this space is limited. He did kill her regardless as to what he says now or wouldn't say to his then lawyers.
The Hardees on Pantops is fairly close to the river...

They reported the driver was under the influence. They never said he was drunk. The test later came back that he didn't have enough pot in his system to impair his driving.

Why do people care so much about a misspelled word instead of the subject? There is spell check on computers but they are busy with so many stories that they are rushing to get the news typed and just never hit the spell check in other words I could give a crap about what they spell wrong.

He was still guilty of taking a mother's life that night. Justice for Doris was not served in the court of law, I hope he thinks of her everytime that he gets behind the wheel. No time in jail could ever make up for the broken hearts of her children, family, and friends.

I remember when this happened. It happened when they were breaking ground for Hardee's on Pantops Mountain. Also remember there being talk about the possibility of her being buried there before they poured cement for the foundation of Hardee's. Does anybody know/remember if they ever searched there? I know they didn't have ground penetrating sonar back then.
I attended school with Katie and remember being devastated that this could happen. I remember my phone ringing several times and hearing different responses such as this one, comments such as "they think she's under the new Hardee's on Pantops". Even now in 2013, I still have nightmares and dreams of me in the woods screaming her name trying to find her. I pray for the family that they may have closure that they may find her and put her to rest. Judgement day will come then the truth will be known.
