As a cyclist myself, I agree. Share the road is not a concept embraced in some areas. It was a gorgeous day to be out on my Bike-- would love to do a century ride this summer

I do understand where you are coming from. A tinpony is like a cocked cannon pointed at your head ready to go off at any time. When I ride I consider if it could happen I ride as if it will happen and be prepared for the worse. For every situation that you are coming into you have always have to be looking for a way out. Sympathies for your uncomfortable situation but always beware and always be looking for an out.

This time last year while approching the court house a dude pulled out in front of me, but while observing him doing it and not looking I had already stopped about ten feet beside him with my bright light shinning in his eyes before he realized what he had done. WTF. When you ride a tinpony always be ware.

Yes, everything he said. The only thing we have on our side is the limited ability we have to think ahead.

I'm more into bicycling. It brings me closer to reality. On a powered vehicle you may think the slope of a road is up or down, but on a bicycle you know for sure.

I didn't know you cycled. I put in 12 miles today myself. It was great! You gonna do this century in one day or stretch it out.

I actually have a Schwinn hybrid with 700c tires. Does your road bike have the really big tires and if so how do they work for you?

No they have the sleek racing tires. I did 40 mile ride with a 6% incline by the river. Went through both water bottles

Impressive! Your super-hero material. My all-time is 26 miles in 2.25 hours through hilly TN backroads. Looks like I have some catching up to do.
My next target is Bowling Green and back.

If thats the hill that I'm thinking about it has a 6% downward incline and after you cross the river bridge it has an 6% upward incline. It makes a vehicle labor in either direction.

I live in Clark county so I ride down the boonesboro highway to the river gives me some real terrain challenge. Joys of being single no hurry to get back home! I want to build up to a century ride. Break it into two days with a camping night. But I need a partner for that

A lot of cities have bicycle lanes, or non-motorized trails. In Scottsville, you take your chances when you go out walking, the streets are narrow and their really isn't any sidewalks away from the square.
