Hm how would you know if the bosses are bad to their employees? Disgruntled ex-employee with a chip on your shoulder perhaps. The food is excellent and the bosses and staff are some of the nicest people I have met in the restaurant business in Scottsville. I would highly recommend.

Possibly coming this week.. we moved back to Oakland from scottsville so haven't been eating in scottsville much. We love dumplins an harpers we ate at aspen when it was there and our waitress was a hateful biotch and the cashier told us the manager was busy and couldn't do anymore for us as far as a 15% discount than she could... It's not a wander they are gone. Samuris is our favorite by far but always open to trying new places

Ita okay if you want Japanese and don't wanna drive to B.G. but over even Kyotos is much better foods not bad but if your really wanting great Japanese food id go to Kyotos shogun or samurai . I ask why they didnt have sushi and they said a sushi chef was $6,0000 a month!!!
Why would they need a chef for raw fish?

because certain fish can kill you so they have to know how to prepare it. Plus it's a cooking art form, you gotta know what you are doing or you send someone to the hospital.

"tasty"

I've been to Shogun's just once (with a group). We had to wait at least 1/2 hour to get in -- then we were packed in like sardines. It was a considerable time before our "chef" came over to begin his "show" -- lighting of a fire atop the grill and all that stuff. The "show" was cute, the food was okay -- but nothing to write home to momma about.

Waiting in line and being all cramped up while I'm eating isn't my idea of a great dining experience.

At the Japanese place in Scottsville, We've never had to wait (I've been there three times). We were seated in a spacious, very clean area (cleaner than Shoguns, as I remember).

The waiters were friendly, they took our order promptly. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time. The food was delicious.

The trip to Shoguns was my first time to eat Japanese food. So -- I'm no expert on japanese food -- but I know what I like -- and I like the place here in Scottsville much better.

I did not pay at Shoguns. I was someone elses guest. So I don't personally know the cost -- but based on whwt my granddaughter told me -- what a meal cost for her and her mom and dad. Shoguns cost more than twice as much as we paid for a similar size group here in the "friendly city", of Scottsville -- and we weren't out the gas to drive to Bowling Green and back.

I'll be patronizing the Japanese place here. Shoguns is highly over rated to my way of thinking.

Shoguns cost 2/3rds more. Four people at Shoguns will cost you a 100 bucks, at Lians four people will cost you around 40 bucks. At both places you will get your belly full with left overs to take home. Who wants Sushi anyway?

After reading this post this place sounds overall like a good place to try...Lord knows Scottsville needs all the new business it can get and I like to support hometown enterprises....

As a resident from Bowling Green, I have tried every Asian Restaurant that BG had to offer. I was on the road to Scottsville for work, and have decided to give this place a try.

I had the steak and chicken combination, which I would have to say was delicious. It had a generous amount of vegetables with the ginger sauce. Similar to Kyotos in BG if not better. My co worker and I decided to share the shrimp lo mein which she said was the best that she has ever had.

Our server was very friendly and attentive. For the price and quality of food and service, in would highly recommend this place for anyone.

Um excuse me but FYI the owners there treat their employees much better than any other places. You would know that if you actually pay attention. They charge extra because in case you haven't noticed, their prices are much cheaper than shoguns and many other places. I still have no idea why people use some sorry excuse to insult the restaurant whether it's cuz they like it and just want free food and shit like that or that they are employees from another restaurant. Another thing I hate is when people say they won't ever come to a certain restaurant again but the next day, they come in like nothing happened. If you don't want to go somewhere anymore be sure to hold on to your words.

They lost one of thier good cooks a few years after they opened at Dumplins and some say that is why the food is different. They need to go back and cook.

Nope. I dont like dumplings either. Food isnt as good compared to when they first opened and they have some rude employees.
Believe it or not, someone can have an opinion on a restaurant without working for the competition.:)
When they first opened they had a good cook and they no longer work was a real good cook so when you loose agood cook sometimes you can't find a comparison.

I have never understood why dumplings was so popular. They always have the lot next to them full of cars. They're about to put a Taco Bell there though and they aren't going to allow dumplings customers to park there so they better get a parking situation figured out

Finally ate there. It was okay. Nothing special and pricey really. Service was nice but I probably won't go back. Oh well.

I've eaten there once or twice. They like to put their special sauce on everything.
