Speed limit on all the side streets is 25mph, unless posted lower. However if kids are out playing 25 is TOO fast.

On some of these neighborhood streets traffic can be observed doing somewhat more than 25 all day long. Kids at play should be expected to think less about the traffic than you thinking about your speed while you consider there are kids out playing. Simply because they're kids.

I live on a street with a posted speed limit of 25MPH. I also have small children that can't play outside because people drive 55-60 past my house. The house next door has nearly been hit by someone losing control in the curve that lies just past my house (thankfully a tree stopped them). A neighbor had their car totaled in their driveway due to someone speeding around the same curve while it was raining and losing control. City police said they would increase patrols but that never happened. No use in contacting the mayor, since all he does is sit in his truck on the square. It doesn't matter what you do...they aren't going to slow down and no one is going to do anything about it.

Sorry, I wasn't watching. I absolutely believe, as a driver, you should always watch your speed and your surroundings. There is always going to be a child or animal, some thing that should keep you from speeding. Even if the limit is 25 mph.

Agree...slow down people!

We will never have our police or sheriff's properly control the traffic. The cops are the biggest offenders! I have never seen so many cars run stop signs here. There is a double double line entering and leaving the street going up or coming down the hill from the police station. A double double line is a no no to cross. Another words it is against the law to cross a double double line just like speeding! The cops could care less about the speeding violations or any other traffic violation here in Allen County!

Coincidentally Roam, five minutes after a friends discussion with neighbors about their excessive speed along comes another car that killed their cat. And it just had to happen in full view of four kidz.

I'm aware of most points about outside cats in the road. It really wasn't the ladys' fault. However had she braked kinda hard her unrestrained child could've been thrown from the seat. And I heard someone point that out to her.

People TAKE NOTE! If you are traveling through a neighborhood at an excessive rate of speed and you hit a child YOU are at fault.

At 15 or 20mph you can pretty much stop on a dime. You will minimize injuries should bad things happen. And if faced with this situation, with unrestrained children in your vehicle, you may hurt your own kidz.

Finally, A post that isnt talking about someone and it actually makes since. I am all about this, I support what you are saying @Blueminer. On my road, the speedlimit is about well, 45-50 and there is kids all in there and people get out and rip up the road about 70 miles an hour. Gets really annoying

I live on a county road and the speed limit is posted on both ends, 35mph. Everyday i would bet some are running over 60mph. Our Sheriffs department will do nothing, one of them made the comment to me "that road is easy to speed on" they are useless unless they have a hard on for you.

Just wait until after the election and I'm positive that who ever the sheriff is will go back to pulling Allen Co. Drivers over for everything little ole thing. In the mean time I've been slowing down even when pressed for time, a minute saved is not with ending a young life.

reviving this thread... water meter reader just went thru at well above speed limit on my gravel road enough for me to yell, slow down!... the garbage truck blows thru here every Tuesday morning bout 430 both kicking up dust n no regard for who n what lives here. Strange cars coming thru on a dead end scoping out people's property- no business being down here , getting really tired of it and going to be filing complaints. What's the rush? is it worth an accident?

I'm lucky I live on a dead end road.
I wonder who I would talk to about a patrol man sitting close to where I work. There are sure some hot rods out at 3 or so in the morning every morning. I know the neighbors around there would enjoy the speed limit being enforced.

I think the whole town should be 30mph. That stretch from dumplings to Pizza Hut is like a super highway. The speed limit is 45 so people drive 55. I drive about 30 down thru there just to piss people off behind me. Seems like 30 is a reasonable speed to me. Scottsville is a small laid back town so why drive so damn fast . Can't enjoy the scenery and the ride flying everywhere
