OK, I have a son on one of the Senior Little League's Football Teams. I was at pratice the other night and was enjoying watching the kids. However, all I could hear was this moron on the New Texans Team screaming at the boys. I was in shock over what I was hearing. He was Screaming at the boys telling them that they were not mounting up to FOOTBALL LEVEL, and they were going to get crushed. Then I heard the word, SISSIES come out of his mouth this was followed by him jumping up and down holloring. I was shocked and pissed at what I was hearing. I started asking the other parents on the team who this Wack Job was. Someone finally told me that his name was Bobby Sluss and his boy plays on the team. I then asked where he lived at in Scottsville, and the reply was "HE DON"T." I was even more mad over the fact that the league was allowing someone that was not a resident of Allen Co. help coach those boys. I could not believe that the parents on the team were not complaining over him and his actions. After I started asking more and more questions, I then found out that he was discharged from the military for his mental state. Now someone please tell me, do we really want a TRUE NUT JOB coaching our boys. I am surprised that no one has done a topix by now. Any information anyone has on this man, might need to be sent to the football commission.

Sounds like the football league might be run very much like Youth Inc. baseball. That's not a compliment.

I will say that there are some very good folks involved in both leagues. It's the leadership that seems to be lacking.

Well let me tell you right now if you dont want your kid yelled at later on. If he even plays football after little league which i see that he more than likly will not because your not gonna be able to set up a chair at the sidelines and whatch the kids pratice in middle school and they will be talked to very badly its football suck it up and as for bobby goes ive known him about four years now and he is at just about everyone of his sons ball games and never once has he yelled at his son for doing something wrong football or baseball. as for his exwife she has put bobby down allot at the games andmaybe giving him a bd name. and maybe you should ask him what type of discharge he has after allot of our kids come home from the war they do have a rough time with adjusting to civilian life again i know i did and allot ard given medical discharge for that fact its very hard to kill another human and then be able to laydown and sleep at night without having a few dreams so grow up get your facts streight and be a parent and goto the right people if you have a problem and on another all the coaches have to have a background check before they can coach there i know because i am one glad your all grown up and have the nerve to bad mouth someone here and not even know what you are talking about

OK, I was tipped off about this topix this morning while taking my son to school. I am the ex wife of Bobby, and let me tell you. This is going to hurt no one but MY SON!! "Concerned Parent" if you have issues with My ex husband, then you really need to take it to the Football Board and speak with them. And my comment to you, "Well Well" first I do not say anything about Bobby that I honestly am not afraid to tell him myself. Do I think he is a idiot? YES I do. But when I am at the pratices or at the games, I am there to watch my son. Not Bobby. I do not bad mouth him at all. However, I have earned the right to think and say that he is an idiot. As far as his name... What Name is that? I really don't care who he is, who he thinks he is, or what he does. My only concern in the matter is MY SON. So you really need to know what it is you are talking about before you open your mouth. And about the military.. I was with him through it for 10 years. I don't know what the true reason was for him getting out, and frankly, don't give a damn. Whether it was medical or not, physical or mental. That is his business. As far as him having night terrors and reliving the combat, that is somehthing that he needs to work on. There are three sides to every story, his, mine, and the truth. Funny I don't see anyone asking me for my side. And Bobby and Baseball, he didn't coach!! Only football. I have been in the football with my son for 6 years, and I know that the boys get yelled at and get told that they are sissies. I am a football mom, and I tell my son to suck it up. However, I do know that this is not the NFL and far from it.

You all need to remember that this is about the boys playing a sport they love. Not about the parents having pissing contest over who do what. All I can say, I will pull my son if this damn TOPIX interfers with him playing... Everyone should know how serious I am about this. Because of all the things said, I am one mother that has dedicated my life to my children......

First of all it sounds as if someone has gotten bored and maybe their feelings hurt. But that is your burden to carry. I know the coach of whom is described by this childish blogger and I truly believe that if you had a child who was playing for this gentlemen and you have a problem then you should speak with the head coach first and if you were the caliber of person who had a true concern then maybe you should have talked to Mr Sluss in person. But it seems as if you will cower yourself and hide behind the words of a computer. You could probably ask the kids who play for this guy and they probably have more respect for this man than they do their own parents. But if you believe you should do something then you should be professional enough to confront this man. If not then shut the hell up!!!

First I would like to thank all of you who are concerned about my affiliation with the Little League in Scottsville. I was made aware of this topic of discussion by my sons mother this morning. To the concerned parent, I know not who you are nor why you have an interest in me. My advice to you is that there is more than myself coaching out there and yes, we do get loud. It is called enthusiasm. I, nor has any of the other coaches in anyway ever degraded a child. We are all out there, coaches for all teams, preparing these young men for the next level of football so that one day we can all sit in the High school bleachers and watch these children play as Patriots. As for my military discharge, it is public information and I will share it with you. I served 10 years in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged at the rank of SSGT. I did serve this country through 2 wars. One in Kosovo-Bosnia and in Iraq. I do live in Bowling Green and have been affiliated with Allen county little league for several years. I enjoy coaching and watching the kids grow into their potential. I would like to say that I have a professional relationship with all the coaches in the league as well. We are all there for the same reason. I am not clear on what other information that you would like to know about me, but at anytime you can approach me and we can have an adult, professional conversation. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Let's get real. What are these parents trying to do? Play sports through the children?? Who cares if you were military, married, single, divorced? This is the real world. People marry and divorce every day, like the chick says there are 3 sides and as for the coaches yelling, well they do that. Have you ever been to any sporting event with out the noise? The coaches need to realize the kids ages and what really needs to be taught and the parents need to help the coaches and the kids respect each other. nothing is worse than and parent trying to be a coach of their own. There should be a rule of parents and kids as there is with dr."s and family. but, give us a break. WE DON'T CARE... if you were in the military or if your an ex-wife or ex- husband. We all have that. Just concentrate on teaching our children how to play a sport ( if you know how) and to be respectful, HONEST, loving of the game. Yelling does work o.k. It's what comes out of the mouth that matters. Maybe there should be a real coaches meeting with concerned parents about any concerns on the fields.Support the kids.. This isn't a place to air laundry.

it's so easy for parents to dog coaches. coaches have so much more on their plate than anyone will ever know. give them a break. help them instead of breaking them down. they are there because they care. dealing with kids these days isn't as easy as it used to be. coaches are going to yell, it's part of it. they yell in all sports. if the child can't handle it then they probably shouldn't play. i'm sure you as a parent have never yelled at the right? i'm a parent and i have coached. i have yelled in both instances. it's not to be mean. it's to teach and get their attention. that's all. don't take everything wrong. think openly. and someone's personal life is their own business. nobody is perfect.

I am a parent of a senior LL player also, and in the past I have seen some very un-professional behavior and language from 'some ' of the coaches. My belief about LL is it's a learning situation for our young boys. And if they see and are exposed to this kind of behavior as mentioned in the 1st post, what are we to expect from them? I have seen the fore-mentioned coach and he does get loud and out of line as far as his verbal sayinys.I don't care what a coach has done in his life, couldn't care less, if he can come out to the ball field and teach these young boys how to be good sports, win or lose, respect for each other and the other teams, the game of football, then he has my support. It's not all about winning. I have seen some very good examples and sorry to say there are some bad ones. And as for telling a 10 -12 year old to suck it up and take the verbal whatever, I don't believe in it, your kid will learn that is what you do. I want my children to have good character. See ya at the ball field.

Iam a parent of a L.L. texans and Iam proud of our coaching staff my child has learned so much from this staff they are great, yes they are loud but they have taught my son so much about football and so much more, they pray before and after each game, and many times when my child was sick they call or come by to see how he is, further more they care about grades and church this has not been mentioned in these post, the parents of the Texans really like Coach Terry Stewart, and his staff of Eddie Ausbrooks, Coach Bobby Sluss, Coach Mark Huff, and Coach Matt Brown guys keep doing what you have done in the past your parents love and respect you guys, for those who do not know this staff you are missing out on a great staff, this league is very well run by the coaches and Tim Berry if there was anything out of line they would be punished, for the parent who opened this can of beans I invite you to one of our practices, this staff had more kids wanting to play for these guys than any other senior league team, good luck Texans.

I too know these coaches. Yes they can put up a good front and they try hard to teach the boys(they do learn) however, there are limits to anything. for example!!! How many take their kids to church? How many do you know that drinks? How many are abusive? I know of some that fit. Not only on 1 team. Maybe a good (for real) background check should be done to coach our kids. I've been to games and watched several teams play. It all comes back to what comes out of the mouth. All in all most coaches are good and to give up the time for kids (if it is for the kids and not themselves reliving or wishing) then it is good, I think maybe our coaches should just think a little more before they yell. These are children and sometimes you can get wrapped up in the moment and forget.

I agree with you and I also think that each and every coach should have to attend some kind of training about teaching these boys ,good sportsmanship, respect and getting along with the other team players. I have heard that some of the players are mouthy at school. That could get them in trouble for bullying. It really breaks my heart to think about some of the attitudes from the players and coaches.

I think I am going to speak on this topix and try to speak for EVERYONE of the Texans Coachs. These coaches are well rounded coachs. They have hearts and right now, their hearts are with these boys. They are taking the time to teach these young men, and help them continue to love the game. Do they get loud? Yes they do. I only wish that the parents get as load as the coachs do, come game time. My son is on the Texans and I am damn proud of it. The first night Coach Terry asked the parents, "do any of you have a problem with us saying THE LORDS PRAYER before game?" No one objected. Thankfully, my son knows it. This group of men are god fearing men, and they would fight over their boys. Who cares where the coachs are from? Are we that close minded to think that only SCOTTSVILLE BLOOD can coach? At least they are out there taking the time to do it.
My advice to everyone, if you have a problem with them then it needs to be addressed to Tim Terry. Topix is not the place to run names and teams down. We ALL need to save it for the field and game time.. This group of boys, are AMAZING!(The Players)... Like I said, I only hope that the parents yell as much as our coachs do when game time is here. TEXANS COACHS, Keep up the good work. As long as your parents are not complaining, the heck with the others.

Foot ball is a rough game, get used to it or put your kid in ballet. These boys get called worse than sissy by the other teams players
