I filed my taxes the 30th of January and still haven't gotten my refund. It tells me that they have received my refund and it i being processed. Has anyone filed around then and gotten them back yet, with the earned income credit? Would it be the cause it is taking so long? I'm just wondering as to why it is taking so long this year.

The longer they keep your money the longer they can use it without paying interest. When you over pay (withhold more than needed) you are giving the government a loan that they will not have to pay interest on. Normally people don't loan thousands of dollars without being paid interest but when it comes to taxes. We say "I'll just claim zero, then I'll get a bigger refund".

We say a big thank you to Uncle Sam when the refund check comes without even thinking about the additional money owed us.

Pretty sweet deal they are running don't ya think?

I would agree to our Goverment keeping my taxes for as long as it took if they would use it to get us out of this mess were in. I nearly cry when I think about what my Children will have to deal with when they are my age.
I'm sure China will have taken us over by then.

Well Patriot Dad, yea they aren't paying interest because at the time, they don't have it to refund. They are waiting to borrow it in one lump sum and then the interest will start.

Sadly you are right. They have to borrow money to refund to the taxpayers. They pay us no interest but will pay through the nose to China.

The hole has been dug so deep I wonder if we will ever get out.

The IRS is to busy figuring out how to punish people without health insurance, they have no time processing tax refunds. They are in the business of collecting taxes not refunding over payments.

You have to work to get a tax refund oh ignorant one that thinks they are so brilliant, I don't believe loitering on Topix 24/7 trying desperately to impress no one but yourself with your lame ass remarks is considered a job.

It is if she gets a W-2. Didn't you know that she works for Topix? She probably gets a monthly check.

Unlike YOU- I work. Seems that all you can do is try to bad mouth people who DO work.

On a different note, my taxes finally came back yesterday! Nice.
