Every person does not sin daily. Try and see! Most every person is not really interested in not sinning...Daily, again try and see. And remember smoking defiles the body, a temple of the Lord! And that IS a sin. Are we gonna pray for forgiveness after each one we snuff out?...what good would that do? In fact it compounds the problem because we plan on lighting up again soon.

An you know what scripture says about prayin for forgiveness when you plan to repeat the act.

I find myself ever so slightly offended by the question and implication that some of the more serious posts on this thread were jokes.

To know full well what scripture says in easy to understand language, yet deny the obvious interpretation just to support ones own actions does not make obviously harmful behavior, both to ones physical body and spiritual health, right good, or even proper...

Really ....if smoking. defiles the temple what abt the ot things, drinking ,judging, eating. anyte unnatural , gossiping....., the bible. says that God sees all sin the same,no one greater. than another . redneck has a point we breathe polluted air, work and drive in polluted places, eat unnatural. foods.....so unless one is perfect. and there iss only one who is, than one doesn't. have the right to judge. man is who made is about What sin you commit. God and Jesus simply ask us to repent and ask forgivness. just saying....

Denial, per Scripture, will land a lot of souls in Hell. Am I wrong? The purpose of my first post was more to point out lack of respect and self dicipline. After all lack of these two virtues, among others, prevent us from following the doctrines layed out within The Book.

If one cannot or will not cease certain behaviors for a few hours on Sunday morning, then why attend a Church?

I read a post above that addressed other behavior and am wondering, did it pertain to people while they were at Church? TBC

If gossip is a sin, yet one gossips while at Church they shouldn't be there. If one is looking at their neighbor with lustful thoughts, they shouldn't be at Church.
If someone cannot refrain from getting stoned right before Church, they shouldn't be at Church.

Sure someone would just love to tell me "well these are the people that need Church" I say "NAY!" These are the people that need the Lord. And the Lord can be found much better and easier and elsewhere than when one is just "putting on a front" on a Sunday morning. Again I say try it and see.

The Book is clear when it comes to just putting on an act Sunday morning fro friends, family, neighbors or a preacher.
The Lord knows the reality and most of our neighbors can see the real deal. And in the end it truely is between you and The Lord. Yet again I say TRY IT and see TBC

I never wish to rub anyone the wrong way posting things I do here. Most points I post I believe to be the truth, some things I may be incorrect about.

I have the knowledge, as many of us do to accomplish living the right kind of life. But like most of us I lack the wisdom and dicipline to do the proper things with that knowledge. I am one of those people that does sin every day.

The devil makes me do nothing. God gave me free will. And those two aspects we all share.

I so do understand that one also. I often ask ,why certain things, come into play in our lifes??? And then I catch myself questioning more about myself. We all fight demons daily, and some we just cant chase away. Outta sight outta mind , does not always work. Sometimes things just happen cause they are meant too , and we just have to deal with the lesson , we recieve from it.. Blessings

The Bible says " we are all sinners and have come short of the Glory of God".

I am one who sins daily, Jesus said if you even think a wrong thing, it is a sin..... How many of you have had a casher give you back too much money, did the thought cross your mind to keep it?....how many have ever looked at another person with lust in your heart...Jesus said, if you have it is the same as doing it, have you ever told a lie?

Now I think it's sad that things go on in our churches, but to be honest some are filled with people that just put on a act for sunday morning.... We are a stubborn people and sometimes God just cannot get our attention, He tries to get us to change our ways, to deal with life differently, to have the attitudes that Jesus had, but we make one excuse after another.

I am no better than anyone else, I have to ask forgiveness every day, a wrong thought, if I hurt someones feelings, did I get angry that day, but He is faithful to forgive and for that I am so thankful.

im not a man of relegious rules and to be honest im not up to all of what i should or shouldnt do according the living word of god but i do remember accepting jesus into my heart because i had reached a point in my life where i no longer could keep on living and i asked jesus that if he was actually real that if he could let me know somehow and all i can remember is that i felt love like id never found on earth and i was no longer alone because he had shown up when my heart was completely broken.now it wasnt a miraculous visit or astonishing vision all it was is a love id never felt before and who am i judge or to get into theological discussions or disagreements cause im pretty simple minded most would say but i sure havent got any rights to judge no way im just human i sure am just glad i finally found love that makes me happy and i guess if i hang on good enough hopefully i can finally get to heaven and relax without anymore problems to ever have to worry about again

i understand you point Blueminer. there are many at churches who are not what they pretend to be. Just my humble opinion but i would rather be in a church where peoplee do not hide there sins, where they are open and honest with what they struggle with instead of a church where people pretend to be something they are not, which in many cases is pretending to be perfect. i, like rehab, do not live in rules and i am most certainly not perfect. i would rather see someone smoke, etc,.. outside of a church then to go to church for a few hours and pretend that they dont smoke. i agree there should be some form of respect shown in a church however i just dont deal with all the rules and legalities. Jesus saved us because he Loved us. and that love is what i do my very best, and sometimes fail, to so others. i try so hard not to condemn (i will see sin as a sin) because that is the Lords job, not mine. i simply try to love others......

OH how things are on my mind tonight!

More than once this past week I have heard statements to the effect "we live in hell". Implying live right and go to heaven. This begs the question "where is earth"?

Most of us know the very first line in The book. No need to post it. Last time I attended Church. The preacher said he felt like our feet are on earth and we walk around with our heads in Heaven but he wasn't exactly sure. On listening to him talk,I really liked his style.

I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their liife: and their dead bodies shall be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth...Jeremiah 34.20

Implying anything above ground is heaven.
Any thoughts on this? Reading back on this thread there are many good thoughts. Whether or not we all agree, or disagree is not of utmost importance.

WHAT we are discussing is the important thing.

The same phrase is used many times. It can also be found in Revelations. I think it is talking about vultures or buzzards. It talks about them feasting on the bodies of the kings of the world after the great battle.

I think going to church and being around other believers helps to strengthen my faith. I dont go to be seen. I certainly dont go to church to gossip. I go to church because sometimes my faith begins to fade. The world and all that is wrong with it has beaten me down and I need to push reset. Going to church, praying with others, singing songs of praise, and observing the Lords Supper all help me keep my faith strong. I think that is why going to church is important. At least for me.

Like everything else that man is involved in, the Church can sometimes get off track and start doing things mans way and not Gods way.

You must choose your Church wisely. There are a few Churches that get carried away telling people what they can and cant do. There are other Churches that try very hard to stick to what Jesus taught. Jesus didnt tell us to go around pointing out faults of others and argue about if its a sin grab a smoke before service. Jesus told us to love each other like we love him.

Everything else is just mans rules and man screws everything up that he touches.

i agree many churches become wrapped up in legalistic attitudes while there is nothing one can do to earn salvation except to find Christ. man is the one that has made it so difficult, the way has already been provided. there are churches here that do their best to serve God free of judgementvand by attempting to model Christs example. i hold true to my thought that id rather be in church with a bunch of "sinners" whp are
true, trying and repenting than a bunch of people who feel holier than others (b/c God is not a respector pf persons).in short id rather be with true followers who admit there sin than those who hide it away and play pretend. after all the church is a body,we juwt come together in a building.

Some view"church goers"as claiming to be blameless.

I was drawn to the Church and thus Jesus because I realized I was lost in the wilderness surrounded by wolves and it was getting dark. I found a light on the hill and it lead me out of the darkness.

Does the darkness ever try to lure me back? Absolutely. Does it succeed? Sometimes. Does hanging out with people who love me and want to see me do well make it easier? Probably. Is it a life long journey? You bet.

A Church is a body of believers. A Chuch is a group of people who understand that they fall short and they need help. A Church is a group of people who are there to help others who are lost find Jesus.

Many times people place "Church goers" on a unrealistic plain. Then when the person makes a mistake they are quick to point out the faults of the"high and mighty".

Every Christian that I know would be quick to tell you that they are far from perfect. They will tell you that it is a struggle everyday. Most if they were honest would tell you that it helps to be around people who are working through the same issues.

If you can go it alone and dont need the encoragement that comes from attending a church service, that is great. I cannot. I still need help understanding all that God wants me to be.

For 30 years I tried it on my own. It was a rough ride. For the past 10 I have tried it Gods way. His way is much easier. Going to Church has changed my life.
