Republican Party Poll: Voters Agree On The Need For Change, But Divide On Direction

More than half a year after the former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's loss, Republicans remain in the midst of intra-party argument over whether, how much, and in what way the party needs to reshape itself for coming elections. Among the GOP rank-and-file, a new poll finds, there's broad agreement that the party needs a major overhaul in both rhetoric and platform -- but stark disagreement over what form those changes should take.

On Wednesday’s “Hardball” on MSNBC, host Chris Matthews continued his attack on Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, but this time took it a step further.

Matthews had been comparing Cruz to former Wisconsin Republican Sen. Joseph McCarthy over the past few weeks based on his looks and demeanor. But Matthews introduced a new description into his attack on Cruz for his suggested tactic of threatening a government shutdown to stop Obamacare —“terrorist.”

ABC Still Corrupting Zimmerman case

...

What none of these publications mentioned -- and kudos to Slate's William Saletan for breaking the story -- is that the producers at ABC edited Maddy's response to have her say something she never intended.

In the unedited version, after Roberts asks her leading question, Maddy pauses, starts her response over, and clearly plays back Roberts' question as the stated premise to her own answer, "But you can't get away from God."

In other words, this is how she would answer that question if asked. She never implied Zimmerman got away with murder, nor agreed with the premise.

In fact, she stood by her decision to acquit Zimmerman.

Oprah Tries To Write and Re-Write History….. Mega-Fact Fail

(Via NewsBusters) It seems that when there’s a good liberal narrative to be advanced, facts and actual history don’t matter.

That was apparently the case when Oprah Winfrey claimed that the “n-word” was the last thing heard by “millions” who were lynched. The implication is clear — millions of blacks have been lynched because of their race. Worse yet, Parade Magazine let Winfrey get away with her “fact” unchallenged.

“You cannot be my friend and use that word around me. It shows my age, but I feel strongly about it.… I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last word as they were hanging from a tree,” Winfrey said.

According to information gleaned from the archives at the Tuskegee Institute, 4,743 were lynched between 1882 and 1968 — not the millions claimed by Winfrey.<<---<< <

Of the 4,743 people lynched during that period, about one in four — 1,297 — were white. <<---<<<

Winfrey told Parade that young people today know “diddly squat” about the civil rights movement.

GRANDrand shoved aside by the masses and turtleman sucking up to teabaggers...PRICELESS.

Rand Paul rebuked by fellow Republicans on foreign aid

To be objectivist about it, you would have to conclude that the Republican Party is shrugging at Rand Paul right now.

Chris Christie, the popular GOP governor of New Jersey, last week called Paul’s libertarian views “dangerous.” And on the Senate floor Wednesday, Republican colleagues dealt the junior senator from Kentucky what can be described only as a resounding rebuke.

Even the 86-13 vote against Paul’s proposal to strip Egypt of its foreign aid doesn’t capture the lopsided nature of the defeat. In the final seconds of the roll call and long after the outcome was obvious, a bloc of six GOP lawmakers led by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) quietly cast their votes with Paul — not in agreement with him but in fear of the tea party voters who adore him.

But whether Paul’s position had seven Republican votes or 13, the isolationist gadfly found himself in the decided minority of the 45-member Senate GOP caucus. And in the hour-long debate that preceded the vote, Paul was alone on the floor defending his position against an emotional onslaught from his party’s most respected voices on foreign policy.

When the clerk called the roll, McCain whipped his colleagues aggressively: arguing with Dean Heller (R-Nev.) after the new senator took Paul’s side, applauding when John Hoeven (R-N.D.) voted against Paul and working over Tim Scott (R-S.C.) until the senator cried uncle.“I’m with you,” Scott said.
For the Republican internationalists, this wasn’t about winning but dominating.

Trayvon Swinging On A Teacher ? Tracy Martin Questioned – Denies, well, sorta ...
Shortly after Trayvon Martin is shot and killed by George Zimmerman, talk within some circles of the Miami-Dade educational system was that Trayvon had been suspended for assaulting a teacher at his high school, and that teacher, for fear of losing his or her job, chose to stay quiet about the assault, possibly pressured by school police and administrators to do so.(continue article)

Trayvon Martin Alleged to Have Assaulted His Teacher, Dad Denies It

Martin was asked if one of the real reason Trayvon Martin was suspended from his school in Miami was due to “an altercation” he alleged to have had with one of his school teachers. Mr. Martin answered that “he could not confirm that” and he had “no knowledge” of the purported incident. Martin added that “we all knew he was suspended from school” and that it was his decision to take him up to Orlando. When asked if he thought it just a rumor that his son Trayvon had “an altercation” with his teacher, Martin said that “it wasn’t anything like he had an issue with his teacher.”- See more at: http://shark-tank.net/2013/07/20/trayvon-mart...

Mitch McConnell struggles to reassert control over GOP caucus

Tomorrow the Senate is set to vote on whether to end debate on the big transportation and housing bill that has been working its way through the Senate. The vote is a key test as to whether Mitch McConnell is truly losing control of his caucus as a bloc of Republican Senators indicates a willingness to break with the GOP leadership and join with Democrats in governing.

Democrats are actively using the confrontation to try to put McConnell in a difficult spot. Rand Paul offered an amendment today (that was defeated) that would have nixed aid to Egypt. It was supported by a bevy of Tea Party Senators, and McConnell voted No on tabling the motion. I’m told Dems allowed the vote explicitly to put McConnell in the position of having to decide whether to break with Tea Partyers in his caucus.

The big vote — on whether to end debate on the measure — is set for this afternoon, and if Dems can persuade a handful of Republicans to again vote to move the bill forward on the floor, it will be a sign that a sizable bloc of Republicans in the Senate remains willing (as on executive nominations) to break with the leadership. That could bode well for this fall’s coming confrontations over the debt limit and replacing the sequester, since Dems still hope to win over a handful of Senate Republicans in a manner that will ratchet up pressure on House Republicans to cave on one or both fronts.

That said, Dems already see cause for pessimism in the mere fact that McConnell is lobbying GOP Senators to oppose the transportation bill. That’s because McConnell’s apparent need to prove he can kill this bill — in the face of whatever rebellion we’re seeing among Republicans inclined to support it — suggests he needs to reestablish that he can indeed control his caucus and prevent any compromising with Dems from moving forward, for his own political purposes. That doesn’t bode particularly well for what’s to come.

GOP leaders refuse to level with the base about Obamacare

Indeed, one GOP aide strategically leaked to Politico that Boehner doesn’t want such a showdown, and that he has privately warned Republicans “of the political dangers of shutting down the federal government.” And yet, in the very same leak, the GOP aide quickly clarified that Boehner absolutely isn’t ruling out this step by any means.

What remains striking here is that, by keeping this possibility on the table, Republican leaders continue to feed the delusion that the threat of a government shutdown gives Republicans leverage over Obamacare. In political and substantive terms, this is complete nonsense. In political terms, it’s a loser. In substantive terms, a government shutdown would not stop Obamacare funding in any case. GOP leaders know this, but continue to keep the possibility alive, anyway.

That’s true. And by keeping the notion alive that an epic confrontation could still force the defunding of Obamacare, GOP leaders are, in effect, keeping that dishonesty going. A handful of Republican Senators have had the courage to step forward and call out all of this BS for what it is. The only question is whether the continued flirtation with it by GOP leaders will force more Republican Senators to break with these tactics.

Empress Hillary, 2016
By Stella Paul

Hillary has already ordered the diamond tiara and gold scepter for her 2016 coronation, and a whole village of enslaved Chinese orphans is weaving her red carpet right now.

Sooner than you can say "Obama who?" Hillary will ascend to her rightful position of World Empress. The optics will dazzle us. Adorned in a floor length cape made from the dead cats of Bill's mistresses, she will bless us all from her 20-foot- platinum throne, gifted by our dear friends in Saudi Arabia.

True, she'll be a bit long in the tooth, but a federal edict, upheld by the Supreme Court, will force us all to wear Google Glass. Hillary's face, devised by Hollywood courtiers, will appear as a clever blend of her own features, circa 1983, and Scarlett Johansson's.

A subtle halo will hover at all times.

Do you find this vision objectionable? Fear not, for Empress Hillary will care for us with the tender ministrations she lavished on the abandoned, slaughtered Americans in Benghazi.

And should you find yourself raped and dragged through the streets by screaming Muslim mobs, be assured that Hillary will comfort your survivors by jailing an unknown filmmaker.[Who is STILL in jail btw...WHY]

If that was good enough for an American ambassador, surely that should be good enough for you.

Now what Royal Personage do you picture reigning by her side? His Supreme Excellency Bill, chuckling amiably and feeling up the maids?

More 'goodies' here!

The Obama dictatorship is virtually complete.
Living Under Tyranny and the Solidification of the Obama Dictatorship

By Sher Zieve (Bio and Archives) Tuesday, July 30, 2013

The Obama dictatorship is virtually complete. Since he began the occupation of what was once our White House, the dictator-in-chief has been busy writing one Executive Order after another designed to replace US law…with ObamaLaw.

Under normal and saner times, these EOs would mean little-to-nothing because the checks and balances of co-equal branches of government would render them null and void if they flew in the face of Constitutional law. But, today, insanity is reigning supreme.

Note: For those of you raised in the government public school systems over the last three decades, the US Congress (which includes the House of Representatives and the Senate) and SCOTUS (the Supreme Court of the United States of America) are co-equal (under the US Constitution) with and to the Executive branch and each of the three branches of the US federal government legally carries 1/3 each of the power to run said government.

However, co-equal branches of the US government—like the Bill of Rights for US citizens—are no longer applicable in the USA. They have been replaced by dictatorial rule of and from the US White House; specifically under the now almost complete tyrannical control of Barack Hussein Obama. Why? Because Congress refuses to act and/or follow through on stopping Obama and his demolition-of-America team from destroying the US Constitution, individual rights and SCOTUS is now openly ruling in both bizarre and unconstitutional ways. This abrogation of duty has resulted in the submission of the Legislative and Judicial branches of government to the Executive branch.

Question: Are members of Congress and SCOTUS (minus their female members) now required to bow down and pray five times a day in the direction of Washington D.C. to Obama? Does Obama provide the prayer mats?

What has occurred that has allowed this to happen is nothing less than treason and the “aiding and abetting of the enemies of the United States of America.”

Chattonooga Newspaper Editorial Snatches The Welcome Mat Out From Under Obama Jobs Visit
July 31, 2013 by Ben Bullard
“Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President: Your policies have harmed Chattanooga enough.”
That was the headline that ran above a scathing editorial in Tuesday’s Chattanooga Times Free Press greeting President Barack Obama, who arrived hours later to deliver his “grand bargain” jobs proposal that would offer tax cuts to corporations and shell out more government subsidies for jobs programs.
Never mind that the proposed corporate tax cut — from 35 percent to 28 percent — far undercuts the 39.6 maximum that small business owners, the backbone of Obama’s ostensibly dear middle class, can pay under his policies.
Without waiting for the President to lay out his new ideas later in the day, the Free Press held no quarter with Obama’s past attempts at “stimulating” the economy:
President Obama,
Welcome to Chattanooga, one of hundreds of cities throughout this great nation struggling to succeed in spite of your foolish policies that limit job creation, stifle economic growth and suffocate the entrepreneurial spirit.
Forgive us if you are not greeted with the same level of Southern hospitality that our area usually bestows on its distinguished guests. You see, we understand you are in town to share your umpteenth different job creation plan during your time in office. If it works as well as your other job creation programs, then thanks, but no thanks. We’d prefer you keep it to yourself.
That’s because your jobs creation plans so far have included a ridiculous government spending spree and punitive tax increase on job creators that were passed, as well as a minimum wage increase that, thankfully, was not. Economists — and regular folks with a basic understanding of math — understand that these are three of the most damaging policies imaginable when a country is mired in unemployment and starving for job growth.
Even though 64 percent of Chattanooga respondents said they would rather you hadn’t chosen to visit our fair city, according to a survey on the Times Free Press website, it’s probably good that you’re here. It will give you an opportunity to see the failure of your most comprehensive jobs plan to date, the disastrous stimulus scheme, up close and personal.
…So excuse us, Mr. President, for our lack of enthusiasm for your new jobs program. Here in Chattanooga we’re still reeling from your old one.
Great article, thanks for posting it! Priceless!! Probably the way every other city feels about Oblamea's failures.!

Countrygirl, I've never heard anything as stupid as your rant about straight and curly hair! Ignorant! As if all the Irish with curly hair are mixed, lol, too funny!

It is my considered opinion that Democrats are are either in denial, or being totally mislead by Liberal misinformation outlets.
Americans from all walks are totally fed up with Obama's hand picked disaster manipulators and spin doctors. False scandals don't get high ups fired, false scandals, don't testify before congressional committees and commit perjury, false scandals don't get global attention and support and then move to another nation for safety, false scandals don't come home in body bags.
Obama might be a better chicken farmer than POTUS, all his chickens are coming home to roost!
