Rand Paul, a man who is not so sure about this whole desegregation thing, could very well ride the Tea Party express all the way to Washington. What...? Here's an FAQ to help you:

What the hell is going on? Where does Rand Paul come from? Is it from my nightmares?

Worse: Kentucky. Rand Paul is an ophthalmologist from Bowling Green. He is the third child of Republican congressman and two-time Presidential candidate Ron Paul, who is a famous Internet meme. Paul got his political start in 1994 when he founded the antitax organization Kentucky Taxpayers United. He announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate on The Rachel Maddow Show in 2009, and just beat out his establishment-backed Republican primary opponent thanks to Tea Party support and an endorsement from Sarah Palin.

Rand Paul Wins, Arlen Specter Loses, and Other Election Results You Should Know

Guess what happened while you were watching Lost on Tuesday night? A revolution! Dozens of people showed up to the polls to vote for change, and… Read…

So he's a Libertarian. Jesus... is he named after Ayn Rand?
Although it makes complete sense that Rand Paul would have been named after Ayn Rand he was not. Rand was born "Randal Paul," which was later shortened to Randy. When he got married, his wife started calling him "Rand." However, Rand is a big fan of Ayn Rand. She is one of his favorite novelists. He also loves Dostoevsky.

Dostoevsky! That explains why he fills me with existential dread. Now, Rand Paul said he was against the Civil Rights Act. So... he's racist, right?
Actually, probably not! Granted, he had to fire a spokesman over some racist stuff that was on his MySpace page, but it appears that Rand Paul is not racist; just crazy.

What are Rand Paul's most crazy ideas?
Well, Rand Paul is a registered Republican, but he's really a Libertarian extremist. He really hates the government! In the past, he's spoken out against the Americans with Disabilities Act. If businesses have a handicapped employee "it might be reasonable to let him have an office on the first floor rather than the government saying you have to have a $100,000 elevator." He also would like to abolish the Department of Education, the Federal Reserve, all taxes, etc. etc.

Does he have any ideas that aren't crazy?
A few. He is anti-war, anti-drug war, pro-habeas corpus, anti-death penalty and anti-PATRIOT Act. Also, did we mention he loves Dostoevsky?

Not sure if I want to know the answer to this... but, can he win?
Yes! A new poll put Paul ahead of Democrat Jack Conway 59% to 34%. Of course, this poll was conducted before Paul voiced his support of business' rights to exclude blacks. So, his lead is probably a lot bigger now.

Are you sure this isn't a nightmare?
Pinch yourself.

Rand Paul is Even Crazier Than his Racist and Pro-BP Gaffes Suggest

Following his anti-civil rights and pro-BP gaffes, people are now turning to Kentucky Republican senate candidate Rand Paul's historical nuttiness. Here, via TPM, he talks about a giant conspiracy to found the 'Amero'— the American version of the Euro.

Rand Paul, it seems, is the political-contender version of the mouth-breathing conspiracy theorist with missing teeth and a torn plastic bag full of photocopies who you hope doesn't sit next to you on public transport. Campaigning for his father, Ron Paul, in the 2008 election he put on his tinfoil hat and talked about the NAFTA superhighway — a bizarre and utterly unfounded conspiracy theory about a devilish highway that will connect Mexico City and Toronto, cutting viciously across America. It's "aimed at supplanting the sovereign United States with a multinational North American Union."

Well,'Mainstream Media', if that is even your real name, Rand Paul doesn't believe The Man with his 'evidence' that it doesn't exist. He told a crowd on the campaign trail in 2008 that:

It's gonna go up through Texas, I guess, all the way to Montana. So, it's a real thing, and when you talk about it, the thing you just have to be aware of is that, if you talk about it like it's a conspiracy, they'll paint you as a nut. It's not a conspiracy, they're out in the open about it.

And it's not just the highway. There's going to be an attempt to make a single North-American currency. He saw it on YouTube. Argue with that, anti-American, socialist pigs.

I saw the YouTube of Vincente Fox [former president of Mexico] talking about the Amero. So, it's not a secret. now it may not be [inaudible] tomorrow, but it took 'em 20 or 30 years to get the Euro, and they had to push people kicking and screaming into the Euro.

I don't think this post makes you like the other republicans here. This isn't bad at all. Not one time did you take a punch at Obama. I can understand someone not liking him as a politician, disagree with him politically. But just lying about things that just aren't true. That's just sad and dumb.
And the reason I mentioned wealthy republicans, is because those are the same people who always vote FOR the rich and AGAINST the poor.
And your tax numbers aren't right. They may pay that much in taxes but when all deductions are taken out with big tax lawyers, they don't really pay, they get refunds! You do know that Exxon got BILLIONS in refunds, right??
The information I provided was directly from the Tax Foundation and refers to the amount ACTUALLY paid. This included all deductions so the figures are correct.

Companies and individuals who report deductions and receive refunds do so legally based on tax laws. I agree that tax laws should be changed but EVERYONE including the large companies utilize ALL deductions legally possible to retain as much of their income as possible. That includes the middle class as well as the rich.

What happened to the middle class? Where did it go? It all started this downhill decline when you Repubs made Reagan's Trickle Down your religion.
.
If trickle-down economics worked, then lower tax rates during the Reagan Revolution should have increased the lowest income levels. In fact, the exact opposite has occurred. Income inequality has worsened. Between 1979 and 2005, after-tax household income rose 6% for the bottom fifth of income earners. That sounds great, until you see what happened for the top fifth -- an 80% increase in income. The top 1% saw their income triple. Instead trickling down, it appears that prosperity trickled up!(Source: Steven Greenhouse, The Big Squeeze, pp.6-9)

Now The Gibson Guitar Raids Make Sense

In one raid, the feds hauled away ebony fingerboards, alleging they violated Madagascar law. Gibson responded by obtaining the sworn word of the African island's government that --no law-- had been broken.

Interestingly, one of Gibson's leading competitors is C.F. Martin & Co. According to C.F. Martin's catalog, several of their guitars contain "East Indian Rosewood," which is the exact same wood in at least 10 of Gibson's guitars.

----So why were they not also raided----
and their inventory of foreign wood seized?

Grossly underreported at the time was the fact that Gibson's chief executive, Henry Juszkiewicz,

---contributed to Republican politicians.----

Recent donations have included $2,000 to Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and $1,500 to Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.

>>--> By contrast, Chris Martin IV, the Martin & Co. CEO, is a long-time

---Democratic supporter---

with $35,400 in contributions to Democratic candidates and the Democratic National Committee over the past couple of election cycles.
