"twinkle" What you are talking about, or some variation of it goes on in every business in town. You can get all the latest gossip at the beauty parlor, the bank, the barbershop, the drugstore, the doctors office. or even the schools. Then folks like you, meddle and gossip about the gossipers and keep the trashy gossip chain going, perhaps even adding to it, stirring up even more resentment along the way..
Yep, I've seen this, or something similar, everywhere I've ever worked. It's just a demonstration of human nature at it's worst. I've mostly worked at factories and I think they are probably worst of all.
There was a group of semi-skilled jobs, maybe 20 jobs all totalled, at my plant, and a group of workers maybe 30 to 35 employees who bid in and out of those jobs from time to time as openings came up.
A few of these folks were liked by almost no one in the group. Few in this group of people were liked by everyone. Several of this group openly hated others in the group and said so and were hated in return. There was continuous bickering, scheming, lying and backstabbing going on.
I remember once a job opening came up for a day shift job. I heard a fellow working 3rd shift (who I'll call butthole #1) say, "You know I really don't want that job, but I hate that SOB (butthole #2) and I have seniority over him and I don't intend to let him work day shift. So Butthole #1 bid and got the job just to spite butthole #2. That was typical behavior within that little group of employees.
They had some of the best jobs in the plant, and yet they couldn't get along with each other and be happy.
You could just feel the LUV working in that place. I worked close by to that area but fortunately I wasn't in the same semi skilled classification. Out of that whole group of 30 to 35 workers there were maybe a half dozen that were honest, conscientious, and likable. That's absolutely pathetic.
Why can't folks just go through the day doing their jobs, minding their own business, and being nice to others? What do people have against just being happy? Most seem to actively look for reasons to be unhappy. The only joy some seem to find is in attacking, trashing, and doing bad things to others.
Abraham Lincoln said, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be". I believe that wholeheartedly.
We had a few where I worked, one in particular who really stood out, who apparently lived only to agitate and stir up trouble. He was sneaky, and tried to kiss up to everyone, but he was no one's friend. He knew how to stir up trouble and cast the blame elsewhere.
That fellow died 2 or 3 years before he was eligible to retire. He had a heart attack. A man can't hate, scheme, and do evil to others without it gnawing at his innards and hurting him to.
Those admonitions to "love thy neighbor", to not bear false witness, to not steal, not to judge, and to do unto others as we'd be done to, and all the others -- aren't just about doing good for other people -- it's about living to maintain our own health and well being.
"twinkle", I hope you'll get over this dislike, hatred, or whatever it is, that you feel towards this girl Christy. There's no future in it. You are stirring up bad feelings and hurting yourself in the bargain.
