Ausbrooks almost beat Roman in the last election.
I will first address the sheriffs election.

I have nothing worth mentioning against any of the candidates, but I think our current sheriff, Jeff Cooke, has done a good job. I see no reason not to vote for him.

"If something ain't broke -- don't fix it".

Now back to Roman:

I thought Roman won last time by a comfortable margin -- but I could be wrong about that.

We'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that "Ausbrooks almost beat Roman in the last election".

I think you are saying it was "close". I'm sure you've heard that old saying, "close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades."

The guy that was close and "almost beat" him is called the loser.

As I remember, Roman was elected magistrate in 1981, the year Ed Ballard was first elected Judge executive. I think Roman replaced Henry Hinton. Henry Hinton, as I remember, had replaced Jackie Button in 1977.

Billy Towe beat Roman, in 1985, I think, and served from 1985 to 1989. Then after Billy served one term, Roman was elected magistrate again and has been in office ever since.

By my count, Roman will have been our magistrate (at the end of the current term) for 28 out of the last 32 years.

Some one claimed the roads have all gone to pot on Roman's watch. I dispute that. I remember things a little bit differently.

My road, back when Roman was elected, was a gravel road that washed out whenever there was a heavy rain.

Often when it was graded, the grader operator would come through and rip it up leaving the road full of big rocks and large chunks of dirt and sod in the road. It was not a pretty sight. It was a mess.

Where Hinton road (also gravel) turned off of Perrytown road to go down the hill toward the Sammy Trice place, that same grader driver had the ditches (gullies actually) deep enough to swallow a car on both sides. The remaining road was only one lane wide and sharply sloped so that it came to a peak in the middle. It was not flat and was not safe to drive when the road was slick with ice. You could not meet and pass by a car there, even in good weather.

Roman got that situation corrected. You could park three cars side by side there today and it is no longer a gravel road.

We had gravel roads all over our district back then. At first Roman was able to get them chipped and sealed. That was a lot better. Then as time went on He got them paved with asphalt. The roads all over district 5 are far better today than they were when Roman was first elected. As far as I know the only gravel roads in the district are roads that the Mennonites built across their own property and are not on county maintenance.

The roads in this district are a vastly improved over what they were back when Roman began representing our district. Anyone who says otherwise simply isn't being honest about it.

The obvious conclusion here is that the people of Roman's district like him and are mostly pleased with the job he has done. Otherwise he would not have been re-elected time after time after time.

There's a reason why people like Roman. He's a "people person' He likes people and likes to talk to them, thus they like him in return. He checks from time to time to see if the problems with the road are being taken care of satisfactorily.

Every time we've ever had a problem, say wind damage, trees across the road, or a tile washed out, the road crews have been prompt to come and fix the problem. Roman takes care of business.

It's as I said above, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". To my way of thinking it ain't broke, so I will be voting for Roman Perry, Jr.

Dear Jedidiah

Please answer the following questions, since you know so much about the Roman Perry election history. It appears to me you are only telling the Topix readers what Roman wants them to hear.

Questions:

1) Besides the road improvements in this area that were scheduled by the State / County governments (future planning), if Roman was a magistrate or not, what else has Roman done in his 20+ years as a politician for this community? Please be specific.

2) Also, please tell us the truth about the story being told throughout the county how Roman mid-handled funds at the Stony Point Fire Dept. Wasn't Roman asked to leave his position on the board of directors a few months ago because of this issue?

I have more questions but we will save them for later.

So I know you think "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", I don't believe that Roman's integrity is running on all 8 cylinders from what I hear.

Please answer the questions.

I am very curious also about the Stony Point issue. There have been rumors but I feel it is time to squash the rumors and let the truth be told. Having voted for Roman in all the past elections I feel I could note vote for him again if this is found to be true, then he can not be trusted.

Can he vote for that? I thought we could vote for alcohol sales. The citizens of our fine county go to Bowling Green or county line on Sunday if they run outa booze. The way I see it is Warren County makes a killin on taxes. We could use more tax money for our county since everyone has a stash somewhere As for weed... I doubt it, we have enough people who can't get out of bed in the morning and get a job or hold a job. Amazing though they find energy to spend on my dime.

If different sheriff's statewide came out in support of Medical cannibis legislation that would certainly effect how the politicians would vote on this subject in Frankfort! If the sheriff came out in support of cannabis legislation others might come from out behind their closed doors! I do not expect it to happen. This is a good ole boy town! The tax dollars spent in Bowling Green is a Ludacris crime for Allen County tax payers!

Please answer the questions.
We allegedly have --several different people-- that are posting from Birmingham, Alabama. I think we all know that isn't true.

What we have is one individual attacking Roman, creating false rumors, trying to undermine people's confidence in him. This is probably someone who aims to run against him, has a buddy running against him, or just doesn't like him.

For the record, I'm not telling anyone what Roman wants them to hear, as you claim. I speak for myself, no one else. I haven't discussed the election with him. I don't even know for sure that he's running. I have only heard that from you, here on Topix.

You just sorta have a knack for making up your own version of the "truth" as you go along, don't you?

You ask questions and tell me to answer them. Who put you in charge of me?

You don't decide for me the issues or questions that I'll discuss nor the questions I'll answer. I'm capable of deciding for my self what I want to write about.

I live near the Stony Point Fire Dept. I've haven't heard any rumor about any mishandling of any funds there by anyone.

Is that one of the rumors you are circulating?

You're asking all of the questions, maybe you can tell us the answers. Be careful though. If you slander someone you can be prosecuted under the law. Your identity on Topix can be learned.

I'll repeat what I said before. Roman has been magistrate down here for a long time. There's a reason for that. People in this district like him. A majority of them are happy with the job he's done.

I suppose some, like you, who haven't accomplished anything noteworthy are jealous of him. So you spread rumors about him to try to smear him and drag him down.

Instead of criticizing him, why don't you tell us what you'd do differently if you were our magistrate?

One has to conclude that a man who has nothing to say except criticism and slanderous remarks against the other man has little or nothing to offer himself.

Doing that just doesn't make a man look very intelligent.

Oh and by the way, what ever you IP address says doesn't necessarily have anything to do with where a person is posting from. You can register and make your IP to show up as bummm Flk Egypt if you want to. It mainly depends on where your carrier is. So if their carrier or whoever pays the IP address it will more than likely show up as to where it is listed. Mine says Westmoreland TN and I grant you that I'm not posting from Westmoreland bygod TN/

I for one will not vote for Jeff Cooke his youngest son drives like a maniac all through town and is never stopped. Since he got sheriff our cops don't do cop work they set around at gas stations waiting on someone they've been tipped on then go harrass that person but never come up with anything. They chase leads that have no evidence to back them why the real criminals enjoy meals with our county's own fine cops and detectives at their family get togethers. Honestly we need a new sheriff from out of this county and they need to do some firing of some of our so called cops and bring in some detectives with no family to protect so we can get the criminals that are selling dope and pills and having their kids sale it to their high school friends off our streets. The job is to protect and serve your community not your family and there's more family protecting going on then community.

Please don't avoid the questions.

I heard that one of our local Mennonites did work on the firehouse for free.

Roman submitted a bill for this work and pocketed the money.

Please verify yes / no with your friend Roman and the firehouse since you live in the stony point district.

If this is a lie, Roman needs to stand up and clear the air.

If it is the truth, Roman may need to think hard before he continues his bid for re-election.

It has been alleged by someone opposing Roman that he has committed an unethical, perhaps illegal act.

He admits it's --just an substantiated rumor--. Yet he spreads that rumor as though it were the truth.

There's a name for a person who tells something that he doesn't know to be true -- wanting others to believe that it is true. That name is LIAR.

We ought not be surprised that some would lie to try to undermine a political opponent that they can't beat by being honest.

Wow you spin information better than CNN news. I am sure the truth will come out at some point.

The honest one is the person trying to verify if this rumor is true or not.

The lair is the person spinning the information about this rumor in order to cause confusion among the voters.

I guess you are not going to answer the question about your friend Roman being asked to leave the Stony Point Fire Dept.

In that case I guess the rumor is true since you can't defend it.

See you at the voting polls.

No Liar,

I'd say the rumor is false, since you have proven nothing. You have simply made an allegation and given no proof whatsoever that it is true.

Just saying, that if you have every been involved with the legal system, you would have found out quickly, that you are considered guilty until you can prove yourself innocent. Also only an accusation will get you guilty until you can prove otherwise.

This is the first that I have ever heard about this, and you are so eager to defend him, what do you know about it. If nothing other than political, why so quick to demand it to be only a rumor? Just wondering.

"tinponyrider" asks,

"why so quick to demand it to be only a rumor? Just wondering."

Because TPR that is what is is, a malicious rumor started by you and your friends to discredit Roman.

If it hasn't been proven -- AND IT HASN'T BEEN -- then it is nothing more than a rumor started by someone who wants to defeat Roman.

If you and Big D and his buddies (the Montgomery Alabama gang) can prove it to be true -- then it won't be just a rumor.

It doesn't take too much intelligence to understand the notion that accusing someone of something doesn't make it true.

Do you -not have- the intelligence to see that?

Oh yes I can/do see that but can you dis-prove it, since you are so eager to defend. By the way as far as I know I don't have any friends here.

Maybe if you want to defend him and get to the bottom of it, you could ask Roman himself (if you aren't him yourself). While discussing it with him, find out who the Mennonite that was involved and go ask him his side of the story. And then you could go discuss it with the board of directors of the reason that Roman was booted away from the fire department. Then and only then you can get to the truth of the accusation.

I only will not vote for him for my own reasons, in which I did elaborate. AND when he knocks on my door pledging for my support, I will tell him just why I will not vote for him.

Hummmmm many questions, and by your so adamant defense of him, you have really highlighted other people curiosity.
