arrrrghhhh!
same story here. Used Pure and Natural for many many years.
Tried the basics and it was just okay...definitely dried my skin out more, but wasn't too too perfumy. Now that is gone too.
Bring Back Pure and Natural Soap!
What is wrong with you people at Dial?!

I live in Washington state and the Dollar Tree has tons of Dial Basics in stock. 3-3.5oz bars for, of course,$1.00. Hope that helps!

I too have tried the "new" Basic soap. It smells horrible and doesn do well with my skin. I have since tried other soaps that I thought would agree with my skin type but doesn't. I am on my last bar of Pure & Natural and will soon have to experiment with something else. Don't think I will try a Dial product. If I get use to that, they may change that one too. I would really like for the "old" formula of Pure & Natural to return to the stores!

JAFA - Just Another Fed-up American.
Unfortunately, Dial Corporation went Bye Bye back in 2004 when they were bought by this HUGE German Conglomerate, Henkel - can you say Achtung baby? Anyway, I'm sure they don't give a rats ass about what's happening in our little neck of the woods because they've got bigger fish to fry, but we can get their ACHTUNG with our pocketbooks. I wouldn't mess with Dial in Arizona because they are obviously no longer calling the shots. See the all those Henkel brands - Purex, Soft Scrub, Renuzit, Combat, Tone, Right Guard, Porcelana, Topol, Loctite and yes, Dial (not to mention numerous other adhesives, sealants and surface treatments)- well, cross them off your grocery list, people and TELL HENKEL that you're refusing to buy any of their brands until they address our concerns. Yes, they're mine too, but I found out too late to stock up while my local retailer still stocked the stuff. So sorry that this does not satisfy our immediate problem - I'm so miserable that I may pony up $6 for a 3-pack that used to cost $1.99!

Oops - I meant to mention that Henkel's slogan is "A Brand Like a Friend".

I'm going nuts trying to find the soap too after using it about 15+ years.Good thing I was in the habit of stock piling it too. Yes, cashiers do think you're some kind of clean freak... I refuse to pay over $2.00 a bar for something that I found easily at the dollar store before. Please know, Dial, your other soaps mean nothing to me and are NOT an option. PLEASE bring P and N back!

Just discovered this thread after several hours of looking for the body was and finally finding some on amazon. I LOVE this stuff. Short of the medical type body washes its the only thing that did not make me itch or my skin dry. Now I find they've discontinued it. Drat.

Is the bar soap the same? I have a couple of bars of it and its easier to find. Going to stock up.

You can find the original Pure & Natural Soap at www.discountcosmeticoutlet.com
I ordered a case, received it today,it has the same scent but the wrapper says "Pure & Natural by Dial". The original didn't say it was by Dial. It says made in USA, Scottsdale, AZ, like the original. Is this the same soap? Thanks

Regarding my previous post: I did not realize that the original Pure and Natural was made by Dial. I don't remember it being on the old label.

Dial Basics SUCKS compared to the old Pure & Natural! I have three bars of the Basic that I'll give away if you can stand it. I am really ticked that they changed it, every time I find a product I like, they go and change it... What was wrong with it anyway??

just so you know, i called the pure and natural company and asked them about this new Basis formula, twice. The first time i called, i was informed that the only difference in the new soap (Basic) is that they added more coconut oil...that's all. The next morning i called them again and again inquired what the difference is in the igredients. This time i was told that besides raising the coconut oil...to my utter horror i was informed that they added "talc" to this new bar. So, i called my DR and asked what brand of hypoallergenic soap should i now switch to, she recommended i use hypoallergenic Neutrogena extra gentle wash. I had a bad reaction towards Dove unscented after i noticed that my store stopped carrying the Pure and natural soaps. I will follow my DR's advice and stay AWAY from this new basic, the new formula sounds horrible!

I found found Jergens Mild Soap at DrugMart in Northeast Ohio. The package even says Pure & Natural under the Mild Soap label. It does not contain talc and may be a reasonable substitute. It seems to work OK for me.
INGREDIENTS: Sodium Tallowate and/or Sodium Palmate, Aqua, Sodium Cocoate and/or Sodium Palm Kernelate, Glycerine, Sodium Chloride, Parfum, Coconut Acid, Tallow Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA.

Good news to the fans of Pure and Natural.
I ran out a couple of weeks ago and was heartbroken to find out it had been discontinued. I bought the Basics hoping it was the same only to find out it is not.
So I wrote to Dial via email, letting them know due to having sensitive skin I had been a huge fan of the P and N, and disliked what they had replaced it with, Basics. I asked that they reconsider and add the P and N back to their product line.
Their response two days later was confirming that they had changed the formula when they discontinued P and N, but they are returning to the original formula, and the ONLY difference now will be the name change.
I am so relieved. Especially since I had no desire to buy from anyone online that had stocked up and jacked up the prices.

Strange, I also just received a response from Dial today:

"The original, white Pure & Natural bar soap is now under the name "Dial Basics". The product is still hypoallergenic and offers the same benefits.

If you don't find "Dial Basics" on your store shelf, please mention the item to the store manager. It is possible the store may be temporarily out-of-stock or the store manager may not realize the demand for the product."

I wonder why they didn't inform me of the good news.

In my searches for Pure & Natural, I saw Kirk's Castile bar soap in one of the local stores and remembered that my mother always liked it (Kirk's has been around for since the late 1800's). Researched it and sounds promising so I'm going to give it a try.

I have to tell you that I just got off the phone with Dial Corp. I was told that P+N was renamed Dial Basics, which we have established. However, I grilled her to see if the formula was changed at all. She said that they had added talc, but have now REVERTED TO THE ORIGINAL FORMULA OF PURE AND NATURAL. I will be buying some tonight as P+N is the only soap that works for my skin! Best of luck to everyone!

I was very happy to discover that the bodywash is now being sold by Walmart again, though not in all stores. It is listed on their online store but not sold through it. I didn't have the money to get more than one bottle, but next time I get to the larger store with money will stock up again.
