Please help me get the word out about the abuse at the maricopa County animal control shelter. This is in Arizona. Apparently everyone here is scared to tell on them and they get away with such neglect. I've saw videos of dogs laying on concrete bleeding for days. Their not "allowed" to have any kind of bed. Many are shivering. Another dog laid there and died with no medical help at all. The separated very young puppies from their nursing mom for no reason then had them all decapitated and tested for rabies. This place is HELL!! Someone has to help these poor babies please help me help them!

The main story states: "outside the child's babysitter's house". A four year old is not capable of thinking about danger yet as there has always been someone there to protect him from harm. Dogs are portrayed in books and videos as little cute puppies that think, talk, and walk on two legs too. The babysitter was allowing a vicious breed dog with the capability of mauling or killing an adult to be off it's chain or out of it's pen so this incident was just waiting to happen. Next time it may be the postman, the meter reader, the UPS guy, or any county or city worker that has a right to be on the property. There is nothing more convincing to a judge for a BIG settlement than a child standing in front of him with scars that he will wear for the rest of his life from a careless act. People that want a pit should have a heart to heart talk with their homeowner's or renter's insurance man before you go looking for the dog . NOT having enough proper coverage could wind you up in financial ruin.

Are the people of Phoenix complete idiots? A four year boy has been mauled by a Pit Bull and they are trying to figure out what to do with the damn dog. Kill the Son of a Bitch and there will never be any more trouble out of the stupid dog. Give me five minutes with the dog and he will have more holes in him then a window screen. The little boy will be scared for life and he will carry the trauma with him. Kill the damn dog.

Pit Bulls are deemed a vicious breed for a reason. As far as being a tough guy I don't need a Pit Bull. I Can't believe some damn fools think the problem is with a four year old. If it was my child the dog would already be dead.

But you wouldn't hold the babysitter responsible for not watching the child? It is awful for Kevin that she wasn't protecting him, I am sorry for what happened to him.

The violence that these "men" spout is horrible. This dog is reacting as a dog. He does not deserve to die. The boy deserved to be cared for better for sure. It's an unfortunate situation but this dog has harmed no one since he has been in the pound. He was protecting his territory from a potential threat. The "babysitter" is the problem. By the way the quotes are there for a reason!

If it was your child I would hope you would watch him better. The problem is the adult who was supposed to be taking card of the child, not the child or the dog.

Nope! Don't agree and if what I read is true, they are not going to. He has not harmed anyone since. Any rational thinker would say the dog reacted as a dog. Not his fault as he was in his own space and some sorry excuse for a human was not paying attention to the poor little boy. There was a bone involved which is the reason he attacked. Murdering the dog wouldn't make it right.

Are people so damn stupid they don't understand the word "vicious breed"? If a person feels necessary to own one of these damn dogs then please don't leave it unattended. If you can't be with the dog then please lock it in the house. If the dog attacked someone then they will do it again. What damn fool in their right mind wants this kind of liability? Why is it that in many places of this country you can't own a vicious breed? There must be a reason!
