I havent, why, this happen to you? I`m if they receive stolen property that they KNEW about, theyd report it. Itd be stupid not to because then that sets them up as an acessary to the burgerly, receiving stolen property, etc. And they do enough business to where they dont need buy stolen stuff of people on purpose.

Let me say right off the bat, I NOT saying they buy stolen property on purpose. I am saying people are stealing jewelry and taking it to Catcart and selling it. Cathcart has said they don't get signatures of sellers. They just ask the seller the name and Cathcart writes it in the book. Problems have erupted in families over this. Again, NOT saying Cathcart is INTENSIONALLY buying stolen jewelry, but they are.

OK, so they are buying stolen jewlery, unintentionally. If Cathcarts don`t have a list from the police stating whats been stolen & what to look out for, then there`s nothing that can be done. You can`t just walk into a pawn shop & tell them about stuff that had been stolen from you & insist that you go through their stuff. If it was like that, any person off the street could do it. You have to make it offical by filing a report. I`m sure it`s like that at any pawn shop you`d go to. I know it sucks to have stuff stolen off you, but you can`t blame Cathcarts for doing something that they had no idea about!

Ok, here's my beef, and please do correct me if I am wrong. I'm trying to get to the bottom of a family issue over this. Cathcart should ask for a picure ID of the seller of any merchandise AND get the seller's signature. Do they have a security camera? If not, they need one. Otherwise ANYONE can walk in there and say "my name is Joe Blow" and sell stolen property, when in fact that was someone else's name. Then Joe Blow gets in trouble for stealing. Does Cathcart really believe someone will give their true name when selling them something that is stolen? TRUE STORY.

If your getting stuff stolen I suggest removing the family and friends out of your life that you think would steal instead of throwing off blame to Cathcarts,I have delt in silver with the old man for several years and they are on hte up and up.Lock your "things"up better is all I can tell you, dont show off costly items.I have a safe I keep those items in.
Remember this, they ARE NOT a pawn shop and they are not bound to the same regulations and if there is no police report its really not thier problem.

Do you not read english. I am not BLAMING Cathcart. I made some suggestions so that innocent people won't be blamed for what a thief did. I don't want anybody stealing something, then taking it to Cathcart and say "My name is Peacock" and Peacock is what goes in the book.

It is nice to see an apology once in a while. In my opinion Cathcart's are as good as they get.

I heard that Cathcart's will take you're jewel out of your ring if it's worth any money and replace it with a fake. Just saying that's the word on the street.

Maybe the people you hear that from bought a fake in the first place and were to dumb to know it.

If Im not mistaken, I believe that they could identify anyone who brought in the jewelry to sell, whether you want to believe that or not is your choice. Also, I know for a fact that they do not replace anything with a "fake"

It is easy not to buy stolen stuff, get real names and photo id...what is so hard about that ? I don't care what you say, if they were concerned about buying stolen property, they could ask for photo ID. Apparently they do not care.

They don't care, especially the son. I have heard from multiple people that he would buy anything from anyone to make a dollar. They do keep paperwork when they buy stuff, it just disappears when it's questionable. Surprised they haven't been looked at harder by the police and authorities.

Proof of what,he wouldn't be a good bizness person if he gave you retail or an exact market current price,is that what your expecting?Your just making assumptions, again. If you were to put something inan auction I guess you would expect retail for that to.Just because you spent TOO much money on a poece of jewlery doesnt mean you need to call persons cheats when your told REALLY how much you can get for it.
