"Matt Mihalik and Michelle Brinkley Mihalik loved the Y too! Matt and I were set against each other from the day I started at the Y. Jan spoke negatively of him from the first time I spoke to her about the job and I relayed that to him. After working with Matt for a short period, I saw a man that was mistreated up by a couple of board members micro managing his job. I saw Jan as one of those people. Matt, a husband and father of five, unfairly had his job held hostage over his head and lived with that until his last day as CEO. He was forced to manage the Y as a health club and not as a true charitable YMCA. At that point, I did not totally understand what he was going through and was critical and hard on him. I have apologized to him for my insensitivity and lack of empathy. I know from my experiences both before and after his departure, that the problem was with a couple of members of the board." - Ron Grace

I am a Y member and I love it. I am mainly interested in the health/exercise benefits of the organization. I have noticed that there ARE people who let their kids interrupt classes and seem to have a total disregard for the rights of paying members. That is my only complaint so far. I have heard that there has been a lot of drama there among board members and employees(and former employees. It is nice to pursue charitable goals as long as the members who financially support the place are not put on the back burner all the time.

It is very brave and commendable of you to stand up for what you feel is right. That's very rare these days.
