He is no better than the people that are in his jail.He should be in there with them.Did u know that the money thats not spent on the jail at the end of the year goes in his pocket. The county jail is in major need of repair but all he cares about is filling his pockets. That whole county jail should be investigated.

That's not true either and if you knew the REAL facts--you would know that the County Commission are the REAL culprits here. If he DID get the money at the end of the year it would be well deserved--but it is my knowledge that he is doing his job properly and to code.

What does code mean when inmates are not getting feed properly, and not getting proper medical treatment.Who is to blame for that?I know that they broke the law and deserve to be in there but how does he deserve it when he does not care about whats going on in his jail?

Apparently it's not HIS jail. It is whoever is put in there. I tell my child every morning to listen to his teacher and learn--because he wants to be an officer one day. I want him to be whatever he can be and stay out of trouble. If the jail is such a bad place then my only suggestion would be to stay on the straight and narrow and stay out of the place that sickens you and your family so much. I know there is a lot going on we all don't know about-but that is everywhere in this world! And I mean no disrespect whatsoever!

only so much you can do to people (or not do for them) before they start learning and fighting back for what they know is right. You need to quit telling that many people how they are wrong and start listening and see how you can help. But after this long we know its just wasted time asking for help. Thats ok we have learned from this go-around.

You did not disrespect me.Everyone has the freedom of speech.I only wish that a certian family member would stay on the straight and narrow, but because he wont, that does not mean i am going to stop careing for him.And nothing is a waste of time thats worth fighting for.I am just wanting better conditions for the jail. After all they are human beings, not animals.

r.b i am on your side dude. i know people that have been asking for help for their son in there and havent got it yet (medical help). but i also wasnt just speaking of the jail.im speaking of the people that ask for their assistance when it is their job in the first place and you keep getting the run-around when you call. im not guessing i know this from experience. nothing ever gets done. and everyone should be treated equally. if they are suppose to protect and serve they need to start living up to it.

me and my husband feel very strongly about this because we have lived here our whole life and we want to feel safe and confident with the leadership here in this county.

Actually I am going through the same thing with the PUBLIC school system here. I want to make sure my son gets the care HE deserves and make sure that he is learning--but not being BULLIED in the bathroom!(And he is a LITTLE one!) It just seems you can not make anyone LISTEN here in this state!

Yes he is a regular there, can't believe he's using his real name. And no the Sheriff cannot keep money left over. And yes the inmates are fed adequately. In fact just take what Bradford said and reverse it then you have the truth.

Chuck Phillips was demoted.
Butch Vaught was terminated.
Jimmy Wilkerson was placed on midnight shift.
It's too late to recall an exact number, however roughly 8-10 deputies were also terminated for supporting the three other candidates.
And yes, Dennis is an alchoholic and no, not from a drink ten years ago.

I have a relative who may soon be sentenced to Jackson County's "Court Referral Program" for Public Intoxication. This was a one-time incident and I believe this is unnecessary, but can anyone tell me what to expect?

In some counties, the sheriff is given a budget. At the end of the month, if they meet their food budget, they are allowed to keep the money. I don't know if Jackson County does that as well, I've never asked. But as cheap as the past county commissioners were, I doubt that is true of Jackson County.
People talk. I have heard people talk about the food in the jail. I do know they buy expired food from save-a-lot. I've heard the employees there talking about it and asking if anyone was coming from the jail to pick up the food. I've heard people who have been inmates at the jail talk about peanut butter sandwiches with a smear of peanut butter on it so thin you can just about see through it. I've heard them talk about getting those cheap containers of noodles that you add water to and heat up for a meal. They tell me they live off honey buns they purchase from money their family leaves them. Don't forget inmates are charged for their stay in Jackson County Jail. It's not a free stay, they pay and the food they are provided should reflect that fact.
Yes, I agree too that the jail is falling apart. I was there to visit someone awhile back and the restrooms in the lobby were always "out of order". The walls and floors are nasty and need a good coat of paint. Parts of the walls and ceilings were crumbling. I'm not talking about the inside of the jail where the inmates are, I'm talking about the outside where the visitors are.
And yes, it is correct that the money for running the jail is alloted by the county commissioners. I guess that is where the old saying "out with the old and in with the new" has meaning for Jackson County.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
